Late 05-06 voltage regulators

The only choose you have then is to replace the stator, It is not recommended to splice those wires, and put on a new plug.
If someone can prove me wrong on that, I have a plug I'll give you.
I agree Shannon. I just haven't had time. I am working 7 days a week 12 hours a day on the Nexus pipeline job. It takes cash to play with these toys.

When replacing the VR, any short cut to the wires? They run under the frame to who knows where.

CUrtis, I did that but the rubber is mush and the connectors are actually loose in the rubber and push back in when you try to make the connection. It is so bad I am afraid it is going to short out and start a fire.
Are we talking the rubber in the motor or the rubber on the plug. Or both?

Sorry guys but Shannon is correct there is no short cut. DO NOT splice any of the wires.
You have one wire, for 32amp systems, running from the regulator all the way back to the breaker. If it isn't on the breaker then get it off where ever it is mounted and get it on the breaker opposite the battery.
Snip all the zip ties along the frame rail run the new wire, put the sheathing from the old VR wire on the new wire, with the rest put the large sheathing back over everything and zip tie everything back up clean again. Do not over tighten the zip ties.

All this talk about the VR so I had to go look.
Must have already been replaced. I can read COMP... on the back then bracket in the way. So I think l'm good.
Thanks for the heads up people :old2:

Not doubting anything Shannon or yourself said about splicing wires, But am a little curious as to why not. I'll take your word about not splicing but don't understand reason.
