thanks Oscar, but i just got off the phone with landmark and they told me that they (landmark)is no longer dealing with bigdog.they said that bigdog decided to go with a cheaper gas cap but she could'nt tell me who?but she said that i or we could still get parts for these gas caps such as the threads that screw to the under side of the gas cap.so i have to call bigdog and get a new set of threads.why you might ask well it's real hard to get the gas caps off and she said the threads have a tendency to SWELLLLLL (huh huh she said swell). i'll give nelson a ring thanks water.

Yeah this info came out a while ago...

On your landmark... try keeping a little bit of vasoline on the threads to keep them lubed up.

What we have here in Houston is 10% Ethanol fuel. We have determined that the ethonal is swelling the gas caps to the point you can barely get em on and off. I emailed bogdog and gave them the scoop after they changed mine under warranty.
This might be their attempt at taking care of the problem because we sure need some relief.
The hands down here have been having half assluck taking emery cloth to the threads and sanding them down a bit periodically. But i want a cap that works.
If anyone figures out which gas cap to use please post up!

Yep the new caps on the 08 are different. Have a smaller paint save ring and the cap does rachet when you tighten it. Seems thou that it will be easyer to scratch the paint around the tank now:job:

i have the new style ratcheting cap on the right tank of my 05 pitbull...spins all the way down with the flick of a finger!....too bad it doesnt ratchet because its not made for my paintsaver,of course this also means that it more than likely is NOT going to seal. i need to figure out a way to check and see if its sealing, any ideas??
and compared to my stockers.its pure junk, about a quarter of the weight of the originals, just feels like junk in your hand!

Carefully take the paintsaver off and then you can use any gas cap.
Yep installed a flush mount cap after getting the paint saver off which is a major pain in the ass even with the tool mine looked like it had JB weld on it sure wasn't silicone:angry:

Who was making the sweet billet gas caps that a bunch of us got on the old forum? It has aluminum threads and obviously doesn't swell, plus it looks sweet!

The billet caps were from Rob at First Run Prototypes. He has since taken his web site down because he doesn't have time for them anymore. He contacted me about two weeks ago about buying him out of all the BDM parts.

I am in the midst of trying to make up my mind and come up with an offer to make him for all the parts.

He does (or did) have left and right hand threaded caps.

That sounds like the cap we need! If anyone figures out where to get these please post up.

I have a stupid question:
Which part are we calling the paint saver? I'm trying to figure out if removing it would help like Gas is saying.
