Like lots of folks I had the too tight gas cap issue ('03 Boxer). I didn't want the hassle of removing the paint saver yet, and didn't want to spend $200+ for a custom cap. I contacted Landmark for a replacement and was told they dont make caps for Big Dog anymore. What they didn't say is they still make the same gas cap and paint protector for $50. I bought a new one on line and the cap fits perfectly.

Do you have a link where one could buy the gas cap and paint protector? Is this the website?

Landmark, LM104-1A, Landmark Gas Tank Paint Protector w/ Gas Cap Bandit , Harley Davidson Motorcycle Gas Cap, Oil Cap ???????

There are many sites, J&P etc. The thread material is some kind of hard synthetic (plastic). Could be the same as the old ones. Should at least get a few years out of it,

Old thread bump --- anyone know which one (part number or year fitment) is the correct fit? I'm seeing a bunch of different ones on eBay.

Tried sanding and vaseline but still too tight.

Thanks

You have to call Landmark. They will hook you up! I ordered two new caps earlier this year; $25 each. Exactly the same caps with the alcohol resistant threads.

Thanks fellas. Yeah I seen the ones on JP but wasn't sure if those were the same threads for our bikes. If I can score one for 25.00 straight from them that would be great!

Thanks again.

Follow up for anyone that searches.

I emailed Landmark and within about 5 days I had a replacement cap in the mail. Price was 25.00 + a few bucks of shipping. Fits perfect
