Fairly new to the pound but have to tell this story. Last year we made a Key West run from Kansas, great ride, however 120 mikes south of Daytona bike lost the tranny...we checked what we could but not alot you can do in a parking lot. loaded the bike up, went back north to the Carls Speed Shop in Daytona, they tore it down and found the main shaft snapped in half !!!..this was on a Friday, their parts dept said we wouldn't see parts till Tuesday...well no way I want to sit for 4 days so I called BDM in Wichita (very close to home for me) told them what happened, they said we have the parts but our shipping dept has left, I asked if the wife could pick them up and next day air them to me...they said sure no problem...so that's what we did, she picked the shaft etc up at no cost to me and shipped them out UPS ...Carls installed them Saturday and were back on the road, made Key West and up the west side of Florida, out the pan handle, a few days later were headed north through Mississippi, down shifted on a ramp and bang, tranny started grinding hard, I couldn't believe it !!!..pulled over, checked what we could, bike had all gears but tranny sounded like it was done for, called BDM in Wichita, they couldn't believe it either, I told them there was a dealer about 100 miles north of me I would nurse the bike up there if they would stand up for any extra damage, they said go for it...well arrived at Big Dog in Hattiesburg Ms but as luck would have it there only mechanic was on vacation, so thoroughly disgusted loaded the bike in a rental truck and headed home, dropped the bike off as soon as I hit Wichita, a day later was reported to me that a set screw did not have lock tight on it and had vibrated loose, one shift fork was busted in half etc etc....BDM in Wichita provided a new baker trans at no cost to me...sure I was out the $600 for labor in Daytona, but shit happens...I did talk to Carls but all they said was "should have brought the bike back to us" yeah right !!....BDM in Wichita will stand by their bikes, I'm lucky that I deal directly with them and not just a dealer...(I did hear later that Baker had several shafts that did not get heat treated correctly)...

TRUE COLORS COLLISION
I am glad to hear of your story and see BDM stepped to the plate as they do so in many situations...i posted earlier and its my opinion that its the dealers that give the company a bad name...its really too bad the economy is the way it is,and BDM wasnt doin better, and couldnt do a much better screening process in alleviating this problem....i read so many times where i bet the customer is being told stuff from the dealer that really isnt true and made out to be companies fault with the non caring attitude and its plain and simply the dealer that is making things hard on the consumer..i have been on here for over 2 years and at times had no other life but to read these forums and i have seen it been told by many reputable people on here, not the fly by nite members about the inconsistent service provided by carls and if i was ever down that way i wouldnt support them at all........sad thing is BDM needs the dealers to get the bikes out there, and therefore i guess have to tend with there shit a little more than they would care to....................

I just can't imagine a nameless MOCO in Milwaukee doing what the guys in Wichita did for their riders. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

Two "Ray's" Agree!!!!! Very good to see that BDM stepped up to the plate and fixed it with a new tranny. That speaks volumes for their character and trying to do the customer right. Say a lot about Carl's as well!!!

hey glad to hear from you I live in McPherson, we should hook up some time on a ride. Glad you had a good experience with your tranny in Wichita, my experience was not nearly as good, but the guys at their shop treated me right.
