I know the feeling. I was waiting for a Chris Angle show in Vegas and set down at the Dollar Machine while I waited. I stuck a 20 and said well I'll at least get 20 pulls. I made about 5 pulled an hit a $1000 Jack Pop. The wife quickly hit the cash out button and to date I have not seen that money.

Best I ever did , about 1993 went to a National ground water convention. (Family run drilling co) so entire family was there. Walked up to my brother at black jack table around 4:00pm. Told him to give me $50 my money was in my room. So I sat down with him and started playing but not drinking. Around 6:30 pm my mom walked by me. I asked her to please put these $100 chips in her purse and hide them from me that I was ahead and was about to start drinking. About an he later I was hunting her down but she told me to come eat with her & my dad but would not give me any chips so I went & ate and sobered up. She was holding $18,000.00 in chips all from gains off the table. Had she given them back I would have given all $18,000.00 back to the casino!
