Hey guys, got an issue. 2006 Pitbull. I bought it used about a month ago. Rode it for 3 days and the battery died. Tried to jump it, no dice, wouldn't start. Bought a new battery at Pep Boys. At that time I noticed that the Head light didn't work and the horn was acting like a kill switch and not a horn. Replaced the EHC about a week ago. Rode fine. Light worked but no low beam, only high beam. Just went out to start it at lunch, won't start. just goes "click" like the battery is dead. Any help would be appreciated.

Check battery is for sure dead.

Re-charge battery and load test to see if it's good. (New batts. can be bad as well as old batts.)

Then check battery voltage while off and charging.

All of the above will help narrow down the issue. :2thumbs:

are you keeping it on a battery tender when you are not riding it? unless you are riding it at least 20 miles between cranking, it has not charged up enough to replace the current needed to crank it and these big motors take a good battery to turn them over.

I rode it to work this morning which is about 12 miles. I don't keep it on a charger. I didn't think that would be necessary if I rode it 3 days a week. I will start though.

I would still use a tender. These dogs get contrary with low voltage issues.

I'll check the voltage as advised. What do you guys think about the low beam not working? It has new bulbs, it not getting voltage to low beam. Could I have gotten a faulty EHC form BD? Will they give me another one if it is faulty?

Some 06 models had a issue with the VR. and there was a recall fix for them by eliminating the circuit breaker and replacing it with a fuse. You might check to see which you have and make sure that the breaker is not tripped or the fuse blown. Theres a thread on it here and tells the date codes of the VR's that were affected. Also might want to have a dealer check to see if all recalls/ updates have been done :2thumbs:

Get the battery charged and working correctly before worrying about the headlight issue. Low voltage makes the EHCs do strange things, like lights not working! :loony::crazy:....

as far as the headlight goes, take the headlight apart and check out the plug connector to see if it is melted. there is a ceramic replacement available.

Another round please
Low beam not working is a sign that the EHC is bad. Mine did the same thing. If it is, get rid of it and do the Wire-plus change over.

breaker triped or fuse blown,, check to see if bike is charging batt, while bike is running. this could be running batt down

Agreed "if" EHC is bad! Too many jump straight to the EHC as being the problem. And due to it's past track record, it very well may be. But let's not go spending the mans money just yet.
But it's still too early to tell by just the low bean issue. It could be numerous other problems, 1st of which is the batt., 2nd would be the headlight plug itself, etc...

Either my VIN didn't have any recalls, or they were performed. I bought it used, and the BD dealer said it didn't have any outstanding recalls or service claims.

Since I have a new EHC (like a week old), do you think BD will give me a new one for free since this one was possibly faulty?

I reiterate,

If the answers you're receiving on multiple postings are an issue or not to your satisfaction.
Maybe a dealer visit is in order and the way to go! :2thumbs:

dead :hi: See Ya!

(Additional Edit)
PS: Please do an Intro as well. :2thumbs:

Again you should start with the battery and do a load test before pullin things apart. also as mentioned you need a good quality battery and it should be fully charged before you crank it up. The last one I bought I hooked it to battery tender and it charged overnite before it went in to standby mode? Just sayin:hi:

Key word Jump it!!!!! (Jump start with a car?) Dogs don’t like this!!!!!
Possibly killed your EHC and or Voltage Regulator with the jump start

SIICK!!!
If you do have to jump start....do it with the vehicle not running.....also...check your circuit breaker and make sure its not tripped...
