Keeping wheels clean.

I wish I had more money.
I just finished polishing my wheels. I was just wondering what some of yous have used to keep the wheels nice and shiney. And what are you using to wipe stuff of once it is on. Windex? I am affraid to use that because of the amonia. Well thanks anyway guys.

No doubt about it, the chrome wheels will look great with minimal clean up and take allot less to maintain to the jewell like apperance. That said, if the chrome start peeling or pitting, not much that can be done except a total strip and re-chrome. Also the chrome is more succeptable to salt air and salt from roads.

With non-chromed billet, for the most part it can always be polished out and brought back to a nice natural shine. That and it allows the rider to have that needed quality time with your favorite dog, much like insuring that ones sits aside quality time with the family.

Either way, chormed out bling bling, polished billet, dirty road warrior, etc-Any Big Dog will always be a head turner. :2thumbs:

I like the Wizards brand of products. The metal polish and spray detailer is the best I've used so far.

I have used Bam, The Bom, NeverDull, etc. I like Wizards. Search around here it's been covered tons.

Use only S100 Wheel cleaner FOR WHEELS! It is designed for polished wheels and will not take the shine off, but will remove tough brake dust. I have used it since the day I bought the bike seens how the dealer told me to!

As you stated, don't use any harsh chenicals like windex with amonia. After I wash mine I do not wipe them off again until the next time they are washed. That keeps the small scratches away and keeps them shiney.

In between polishes, i use Eagle One 20/20. No ammonia and no streaks!
And i use it on all my chrome and wheels! When I had my bike worked on at Myrtle, BigDog used Zep window cleaner on my paint, and said it wouldn't hurt it! I use Captain Richards the bomb polish and the quick detailer!

The Rims and tires are the only wet washing I do for my bike...With a bucket of warm water, Meguires soft soap and a micro fiber towel...No scrubbing just slop the soapy water around...The soap will help to lift the dirt/grim off the rim so you don't scratch the finish...I feel that soap is very important to "lift" the dirt off the rim...Rinse and Dry the rim with a clean micro fiber towel and use your favorite detailer...

I use Global Products der Shiney Stuff for regular cleaning on everything...It cleans the bugs and road grime and will also get the ocean air goo from the mirrors and levers and it will leave a very nice shine...The paint finish will have a wet appearance...The rims will look new...I found this product to be easy on and off and works very well...:2thumbs:

P.S. Never use a Bikini Bike Wash on the Dog...If the girls are Hot or you want to support the cause...You can admire their work on other bikes and then just Donate or tip them...Win/Win...

Spend about an hour per wheel every couple months or so (depending upon where you live, how you ride, where you store your bike, etc).

And that, my friend, will get your billet aluminum to about as good as it gets.

I use the wizards also, stuff is hard to beat. Polished with the Wizards Metal Polish and then use the Wizards Power Seal. Keep clean with wizards Mist and Shine.

Spend the dough and get chrome!!!!!!

I have chrome wheels on my K9 and it was the best $$$$$$$ ever spent. WASH AND RIDE.

Well, I'll be a "nay sayer"... my chrome is pitting and flaking...

The chrome looks incredible and cleans easier, but Higher miliage and salt water are better left to billet IMO.

I got all kinds of dings and dents in my rims from stones that I think would have damaged the chrome...

That Zoop may be the ticket for me?... I'm waiting to check out Gas' rims next year :up:

Well Cutter... if you're referring to the couple of pieces from BDM like the front forks... I bet their chrome is lesser quality.

I was... also my Coil mount, foot controls, pegs, front exhaust pipe(V&H), mirrors

or you could do what I did and get them powder coated - completely different look altogether of course
