Has anyone had new faces welded on their bog dog hand controls with standard momentary switches put in. This seems like it could be done and would be a hell of a lot cheaper than new bars and controls. Plus I think the big dog controls are bad ass. So I'd like to keep em if I ever do an old school rewrite... Any thought??:up:

The problem you would have is that standard HD switches attach to the controls and won't work with BD controls. You could find a set of button switches but then you still have to have a way to cover up the stock BD switches (because they hold the controls on) and it probably wouldn't look pretty.
I'm in the process of collecting all the parts needed for an old school rewire and wanted to keep the BD controls but not the switches but gave up and just bought a new set of bars and controls. The price you can get for the stock bars with controls and switches would pay for almost your whole rewire.

That is the main reason I'm going old school. I think BD had a great idea with the low voltage thing but let's face it, computers are not reliable (I know I have a software business) and put one in a hot vibrating bike and you are asking for trouble. The switches are computer boards and if they get wet they will short out.
In collecting my parts I decided to go with a Badlands turn signal module to keep it clean. On the other chopper site I'm on they said they work well but only last 2 years or so. At $86 each I'm not worried and there are many different turn signal boxes out there so replacement isn't a problem. (I also never had turn signals before so it's not a big deal)
When I was being flamed I asked the question "give me a sight where I can buy a complete set of switches" and I'll shut up. No one has because there isn't one. Even if you buy a WP or RIP system what happens down the road when the switches go bad?
