Karata Install

Just about finished with the install, been on vacation for the holidays so today I had a chance to get out and do some work.

I am having a hell of a time getting the belt on the pulleys, I have checked my alignment and its on. The damn belt just will not go on any recommendations?

The youtube.com videos of the BDL drive make it look rather easy. I hope to be putting my belt drive on next week, hopefully there is a easy solution to your problem, please keep us updated. Hopefully someone with experience will have a answer for you.

could it be heated a little to allow for more flexibility and stretch?? if so, try boiling water. just a thought.

Havent done a karata yet, but mine came on and off pretty easily. Just put the belt on the rear pulley. With the front pulley off the bike put the belt on it. Then just put the front pulley on.

those belts are tight...mine I slip on the rear pulley first, just a little...1/4 of an inch belt cogs in the grooves of course...then slip belt onto front pulley...belt cogs in grooves...then rubber mallet and tap belt at 9 and 3...slowly work it on...just how mine works.

another thought...have you got an outboard bearing support you can install to make sure your lined up. the first time is hard...the belt will stretch a tad and gets easier...mine belt is 1 1/2 years old.

this is the way to do it,i just finished my install remember to just barely get in on the pulley then pull it barely on the other.once it's started its a breeze

Same here just tap tap tap alternating between the front and rear with a rubber mallet...:2thumbs:

Thanks all, I got it! appreciate all the input! pics are posted under the rebuild. I figured it out after getting a few cold ones down...
