Karata Belt Springs

Question, I just installed a Karata 4" Belt and OBS on my belt. When setting it up I used the Yellow springs for the clutch. I haven't riden the bike yet because I'm still waiting for my XXX Carb, but I tried pulling on the clutch and it is quite hard to pull. Whicih springs will give you a lighter pull and not slip? Aren't the Yellow springs the lightest?

PM Rubwhore, he did the same set up....I am sure he will be chiming in at any time.
Karata mentioned and the Bat signal goes off for him to see

Yes on the Yellow springs being the lightest. I went with the green 80lbs springs and i can now, after one season, pick up 525 pounds with only the four fingers on my left hand.:2thumbs::roll:

Thanks, but I just talked to Jim from Karata and it appears I didn't adjust the Clutch when installing the unit. I wasn't aware of that and looking for a thread on that part now.

I just finished my 4: belt also and I had a hell of a time with the clutch, When I loosen the cable, how can I explane this, the piece that turnes to clutch rod ( sorry I don't know what this is called ) was turned foward. I tryed and tryed to adjust the clutch, just felt like I was hitting a wall. finally I took every thing apart and turned that piece back then adjusted the rod then the cable. worked like a charm.. went riding for about 2 hours today a its just great..

Can someone start a "show us your Karata" thread? I don't know how to do it, but I would love to see pics of all these new primaries.

I'll agree, Gasmans photos were a great help. A couple of things though 1. the one starter bolt on a K9 was a PITA. 2. That little retainer clip on the clutch rod support was'nt much better my retainer clip plyers was not small enought to fit in the nat size holes ( Paper clips worked ). But you know what " I DID IT " and it fells great.

Well I talked to Jim and he told me what to do for the clutch. Took about 25 minutes to take care, got lucky. And my xxx carburetor was waiting for me when I got home. So I took the rest on the night installing that. Started the bike and tested the clutch with the bike on the stand. Will go out tomorrow when I get home.
