you are going to love your 4" open primary. Jim is very helpful and you most likely will not need any additional help but if you do, I will be glad to help you. I have one and I do love it.

Ditto to Karata 4"

I am new to this forum but have been searching it for over a year for various information. What a great resource for information on the Big Dog. I just got an Ultima 140" El Bruto (160hp/175lb torque) and the Karata 4" drive with the heavy Piranha clutch. Parts and fab work will begin next week, but I'm wondering what I will tear up first! Sounds like the Baker trans may be the weak link, but I'm interested to hear the experienced guys in this forum. The original plan was to drive a Procharger off the open primary, but I don't want the bike down half the summer trying to get it sorted. If I can grow a pair large enough to hold WOT, I may decrease compression and change cam, so I can add Procharger next winter. Advice, other than leave it stock, is appreciated!

Hey Randy, Welcome to the site. I can't imagine what else can be done to a motor with so much power. What made you change motors to begin with? I am curious about the 4" belt. Is it bad to scrape the ground when you make a left turn? They look and sound bad ass!

Oh! One last note. If you've been looking on this site for a year and this is your first post, then you know the intro cop is comin' to getcha.

Actually I have noticed that the reception is warmer if your first post is on the intro, so I did make an intro post first! The reason I changed the motor is that I could see spending $4,000 on motor work on my 127" and for $5,500 I could get the El Bruto already built to handle the big hp. The only thing I could think of to make more hp from the El Bruto is to add a Procharger and intercooler. I have been working with Walt, and he says this combo would make 230-240hp with 12 pounds of boost. They currently have a Harley with a Jim's 120" that makes over 200hp and they ride it all over the country. Saw and listened to it at Sturgis, and it is bad to the bone!

OK, the 4" Karata arrived Friday. Wow, this is some some nice stuff! Jim has been great to work with so far; it gives me great confidence to be able to discuss a product and its application with someone who actually designs it and manufactures it. I can't wait to get it installed. We have the 140" El Bruto sitting in the frame, and will bolt the Karata primary and Piranha clutch in next week. Unfortunately, we need some custom machined parts and brackets to finish this project up, so it never goes fast enough. At least the weather hasn't been beckoning me to come ride much lately.
