K9 transmission slip from 2nd to 3rd

Hello i just bought a 2009 k9 and when i test drove it, i noticed that the clutch needed to be adjusted as the lever was not disengaging where it should but i got on it pretty good and it felt like it slipped from 2nd to 3rd. Is this a common problem? Would i be better off rebuilding the tranny or buying a remanufactured one? I'm not a mechanic so I'd have to have the shop do it. If i just buy a complete rebuilt tranny, where do i go please so i don't get bent over a barrell... this is my 3rd k9 in the last 10 years but I've never had issues like this before?

I would check and make sure shift rod is adjusted right before going that far as thinking its the tranny..ive seen several thats all they needed was adjusting...if its not in gear good sometimes when u get on the gas the load will jump them out of gear into another gear or fall out in between gears...also get the clutch adjusted right before making a big wallet deposit

Hey Knot -- Wouldn't that be a big wallet withdrawl? I like big wallet deposits -- anything that put's money in the wallet is good!

Yeah, my 2-3 shift episode was a major withdrawal....

Good luck Craig - I had the tranny rebuilt by a shop but I'm not 100% sure it was needed or successful.

You should re-think the mechanic in you. :)

I can do some things here and there but generally when it comes to no helmet no cage and two wheels I don't like the sound of hitting the pavement at 80 miles an hour so I bring it to professionals :)

Agreed that good mechanicals = safe ride.

Same logic is also why I do as much as I can now. If you want it done right, do it yourself.

If you have a pro you can trust that really knows Big Dogs, that is certainly a huge luxury. I haven't found one yet in my area yet.

I guess I do not know of any that no big dog yet but I know of one mechanic that seems to be pretty darn good all the way around just understanding all types of motors and Transmissions but we will see
