If you find one you like, post where it is and which one. Almost everyone on here would be willing to go take a look at it if its near them an check it out for you. All of us may not be the best mechanically but could verify miles and condition and how it sounds.

Wow... that would be unreal! I will definitely keep that idea in mind!

I'm waiting on some more pictures from one, so if it still looks like a possibility, then I definitely will!

Along with pics, ask if they can send a video of it running. And agree with Okie, a number of us have checked out dogs for others.

Turns out there are blue book values for these bikes... Even though Big Dog isn't listed under "Ore select a make", you can choose "Street: Standard & Cruiser" under "select a category". Big Dog is listed there.

I found my K9 with 1184 miles on it for $15,000 a little more then a month ago. He just wanted out of the payment. Bought site unseen and had it shipped. Bike was perfect.

Wow! That is an awesome deal. When you're lucky, you're lucky!

I'm really afraid of sight unseen... I have nightmares of some shady dude with a big shit-eating-grin glaring as the doomed K9 I ordered rolls out of his driveway on an eighteen wheeler... Bound for its resting place in my oil-soaked garage.

Of course, I have a vivid imagination. Equally bad as it is good.

If you want a K9 - In my humble opinion 07 was the best year, 08 are okay but the wheels are not quite as good as 07.

In 06 you have S&S Jugs and TP Heads. Some people have luck with that combo some dont. Looks wise, I like the S&S over TP anyways.

There is a Blue Book - But like you said some guys need the cash and will sell for going rate but most guys think they have a 20k+ bike and are asking the moon. These Big Dogs are not 20k bikes anymore - no matter what you got in em.

There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum. Please note a couple of things....The electrical issue with the EHC is blown way out of proportion. Someone did a poll on it a while back and the results speak volumes.

I have an 09 K9 and I love the bike to death. I bought it a year ago for 16,900 with around 4500 miles on it. I considered it a good deal, one to good to pass up. No real problems with it. Just changed all the fluids and now I ride it like I stole it.

My dad has a 06 Mastiff which is in the era of when the electrical issues were more prevalent, however he to has had 0 problems with his electrical system.

As for the low miles comment...it is not any one particular reason. These aren't Harleys, not alot of people can handle/want a bike that rides like these do. Alot of people want a soft, tame ride which is what Harley is good at.

You can ask my buddy (who rides a Harley) who gets more comments at the end of the day. You can also ask him what its like when I walk him like he's standing still.

So you have a question to ask yourself....Do you want to blend in and spend $$$ trying to make your Harley unique, or buy a bike that has the looks and American muscle to effectively put down any Harley threat?

Both my father and I bought ours sight unseen.

Both of us are happy with out purchases.

Depending on where it is at don't hesitate to ask a member (of this site) close to the area to go look at it for you. I'm sure most members would be willing to, gives them a reason to look at other dogs...

Before I bought my 08 I was looking at a 07 K9 in St. Louis that was on e-bay. Had a member here go look at it for me and I was glad I did because all the chrome was pitted and it had chips and scratches in the paint. Always a good move to have it checked out.

Exactly the kind of thing I worry about. A lot of times a bike can look good and sound in some photos. Photos are a tiny bit blurry or a little far away. A lot of times you can't know for sure unless you're there. Even if you have really clear 10 megapixel shots, a guy could still just not take pics of the shitty parts.
