Nothing yet, have you heard something?

I was going 70 down the freeway and thought about the same thing last week. I have not heard of any and I hope that it has never happened, but I am all ears.

I'm looking at an 07 with 6k miles. Bottom right frame rail is cracked on the top, just behind the rear cross brace. I'm wondering now what the fastest way to handle this is? Go directly to BD or take it to the dealer? Who makes these frames? Still RT or is BD making them? He still has 5mo on his warranty.

Contact the factory direct. They want to know about any case such as this from the owner.

They replaced Rays entire frame on his chopper. I'd go to bdm.com and look for a customer service number and go from there.

Looks like someone ran over or hit the frame on something, doesn't really look like a faulty frame.

What could you possible bottom out on that would cause the frame to crack on top? He has scrapes on the bottom of the rails but no damage there. It's only through the powdercoat.

I was about to say the same thing. That bottom rear section look like it took some concrete or asphalt at a pretty hard hit.

Maybe pulling into a banked drive or something at an angle and bottomed out.

Big dog is going to question if the frame has been abused. That bike may well of been wrecked at one point. I'd check into that.

I know the owner and the bike since it was new. No abuse, and like I said, the scratches are just surface scratches from going in and out of a trailer. No damage to the metal, the white you see is some sort of primer under the powdercoat.

Looks faulty to me, if due to being hit you would think it would have cracked from the bottom up not top down, call BDM and talk to them directly.

I have no idea, but it looks like it was hit. If you say it's from a trailer, that's good enough for me. I'd call BDM and see what they say. I'll need to look at mine in the morning.

well with the K-9 frame at 4" of the deck the possibility of a ride with passenger onboard off a higher than usua curb might present such upward thrust to make the frame flex enough to crack at the top but leave no actual dent from the underside of the frame rail. usn ex qa inspector analysis .02 worth......:flag: check underside of frame rail for signs & call in ...:2thumbs:

Wouldn't the torque of the motor want to snap the frame right there.

Drive belt is tight up top.

Torque wants to pull the trans and the frame upward on acceleration.

Just thinking out loud.

Doesn't seem that hitting a curb or bottoming out on something would do noting more than dent the frame, wonder if the weld on the other side weekend the tubing. Made it too hard as to be less malleable. Keep us up to date, this is interesting.
