Guys and gals, you do what you are comfortable with cause these are your bikes, but I would be real careful using a filter because it looks exactly the same as a well known, well respected, made in the USA with FAA certification oil filter from K&P. Dave was asked to mass produce but refused because of fears of losing quality in the over seas production. It is proven and was the filter of choice for MANY years on this forum. I am not sure when or why that changed but it seems like it is starting to. Did K&P quality drop? Did someone have issues with theirs? Or are you just looking to find a cheap alternative to what you really want? I don't know about you, but I spent WAY to much money on mine to be nickel and diming over my oil filter. Did you all forget that this is an S&S motor we are talking about? This ain't some 70's Yamaha XS650 bar hopper u piddle down the street on.
I did a quick search and can't find anything on Sifton. Again, only a quick search. Where is it made? Is it FAA certified? Does it perform equally as well as the K&P in testing. Is it equal to OEM Filters? I don't have any of these answers but these are certainly questions I would be asking when buying something as important as your oil filter.
I got no dog in this fight people. I am a K&P dealer and have been for years but Don, Maddog, of Valueteck has done a great job of taking care of you guys with the products he offers and I would not disrespect him by promoting the same products he sells. I have even sent customers his way if they have been from the forum.
Kaptin, everyone knows you do a great job, quick service, lots of knowledge, etc. I just think that there are products out there that "we" can sell, but maybe "we" shouldn't. Again, I am ok if I am way off base cause this will help to get more info out on the filters and that will benefit the forum. If I am wrong, it won't be the first or the last.
Guys and gals, I have been a forum member since 07 and a vendor shortly there after. My only motivation on this forum is to be helpful. I care about the forum and her members. I do try to make a little profit on transactions but that percentage is almost always under 10%. If you really knew the time put into researching, answering questions, ordering parts, web sites, etc. put into being a vendor you would think we were fucking nuts.
In case anyone is wondering, I am a dealer for Baker, S&S, PM, Lyndall Brakes, Mid-Usa, V-Twin, Custom Chrome, Ultima and on and on and on. I can get the same products that the other vendors can get. Whether it is the high quality or the cheap over seas knock off stuff that I have seen, I can get it.
What you won't get from me is promoting other products that other vendors are already selling. I am in this for you, not me and I refuse to disrespect someone doing a good job and offering good products. I won't tell you that I used to use something before but I think it is shit now because I have something else I want to sell you. That would be foolish to assume the members are that naïve. I won't advise you on the products to buy either. It would be unfair of you to ask me to take responsibility, which I would if you were unhappy with my recommendations after you purchased. I won't spend a bunch of time looking parts up for you then give you the part numbers so you can go searching the web for better prices. That is disrespectful to me. I would prefer you come to me with the part numbers if possible so that I can be quicker for you. Lastly, think twice before telling me you can get it cheaper somewhere else. When that happens, most people ask if I will beat the price they found from

Please be understanding if I am a little slow to respond at times. I tend to have 100 things going at any given point and I don't have the luxury to lurk on the website being a troll and waiting for some way I can sell you something.
