K&N FILTER

QUESTION... IM TOSSING MY STOCK PAPER AIR CLEANER AND REPLACING IT WITH A NEW K&N FILTER. IM STILL USING MY STOCK COVER TILL I GET MY NEW SLOTTED S&S TEARDROP (DESPERADO). WILL I NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCE WITH THE FILTER ALONE?

I HAVE BEEN RUNNING SOME HOT ROD EXHAUST PIPES BY MIAMI EXHAUST ALSO.

yes, it lets the filter seat properly

What dog ears on the base plate are you talking about?

looking down the throat of the carb with the backing plate still attached, it's the one at the 9 o'clock position. grind it down flush, I used a file to take care of it.

I seriously doubt you notice any change. I have seen a 2-3hp gain on engines dynoed with 400hp in my car mags. It's mostly for looks and to be economical.

The filter should come with instructions and it will show what part you have to grind out. I installed mine without grinding out the dog ear. I applied the enclosed grease on both sides to ensure a good seal and it seams to be alright.
