K-9 vs "the MINI" (or K-9 250)

I've been reading whodey's tread about the K-9 vs the Mastiff. My choice is between the K-9 & the K-9 250 (or whatever people are calling it now). Unfortunately the dealer here in my area isn't devoted to Big Dogs (has very few in stock...if any) but has tons of other brands.
I'd like to test ride both the K-9 & the 250 to compare them, but unless I leave the State and travel elsewhere, that aint gonna happen.

Has anyone ridden both the K-9 and the new 250 to compare them?
Thanks!

Steve,

The K-250 can take curves and turns better because of the 250 rear tire...My opinion, BDM did not do a good job in advertising the 250...Matter of fact, they just put it up on their website after the bike was out for months...Also, as long they keep producing the K-9, the 250 will suffer because for about the same price or a little more, you could get a K-9,which has a bigger motor and rear tire for "Shock and Awe":)

i honestly cannot hardly tell the difference between the K-9 and K-9 250. Im sure i could tell the difference between the 250 rear tire and the 330rear tire... that being said, Id take the 330! : )

I'll be happy for sure!

Ah, decisions, decisions. Thanks for the responses. At this point I can't say there's one answer that would be so much more favorable that it would make my choice easier. :loony:

Personally, If I went and bought the "Mini" Which I think is a kinda funny name for it.. I'd pick it to pieces and in the end be unsatisfied with it. If you're gonna go half the way, you might as well go all the way! :D

Really I have to agree with Miami vice on this ...depending on the how you plan to ride your scoot , for overall riding comfort and quick handling ..get the smaller tire ! For the shock and awe and just curb appeal the big tire will always be the favorite!

I have an 05 Chopper and have ridden Big Al's K9. I like them both, the K9 you feel the 300mm a bit but not bad.:2thumbs:

I gotcha

Yea, the specs for the K-9 250 show it's weight 38 pounds lighter than the K-9, so for nimble performance it may do better around those hairpin turns.
I just wish the local dealer here (70 miles away) had a K-9 250 in stock, but he wont get one to just put out on the floor. He'll only order one for you, and you're stuck with it.

I'll figure something out......or roll the dice. They're both nice in their different ways.

I also think if theyd had did as promised ,besides not advertising, and put the K9 250 out for $19,995 there would be many more sold,$22,000 aint gona sell a smaller version of a bike you can get for a few thousand more bucks.......

It might be worth your time and expense to call around to all the dealers you are willing to drive to, find out if they have the scoots you are interested in and go there to ride em. Most dealers will have pics on their website of bikes they are stocking or they will tell you when they are getting more. You can go to the BDM site and bring up a list of dealers world wide.

Also, many ppl have test rode the bikes they are interested in, then ride some other models and discover the scoot that is best for them is another model altogether.

Good luck:cheers:

Get the K-9, not the 250......first time you meet up with other Big Dogs you are gonna leave wishing you got the 300 with the bigger motor. If money isn't a problem go bigger. Just not the same.

K-9

:eek:Yep, I'm definitely leaning towards the bigger is better position. I've ridden some pretty challenging roads that required all of my skills to navigate; and I was sober . But day in and day out riding it's mostly typical flat terrain. So when I encounter those exceedingly steep uphill starts from zero, or those radical descending twisting turns, I'll just be conservative and overly cautious.
As you've said, "you pick the right tool for the job; or, decide what type of riding you'll be doing".
So for me it's probably going to be the bigger K-9 (woof) because I mostly like cruising, but I want the extra power there when I want it. :zdrool:

I didn't realize the new K-9-250 had a smaller motor. Does it have the 117? If so, I guess the regular K-9 has a 124? Where the hell have I been?

111 ci verses 117 ci

:moped:Yea, the 250 only offers the 111 cubic inch, and they wont allow you to upgrade to the bigger engine. I guess they figure that if it is really that important to you to get the 117, you'll fork out the extra cash to get the K-9.:choppersmiley:
