as far as the tank liner goes, that is something you have no control over. it is a coating on the inside of the tank that unfortunately breaks down as one of the effects of there being ethanol in today's gasoline. you are correct to use nothing but 93 octane but even that still has ethanol in it. it's gonna happen, just a question of when. and when it does, it will shed inside the tank and clog things up. but don't worry until it happens, then you will see the shit floating around inside the tank and it will block the flow into the petcock and points beyond. there are kits to strip and re-coat the tank when this happens or if you don't want to do it yourself,there are cos. that will do it for you $$$.
for now, maybe get an aquarium fish net small enough to go into the gas tank and check for loose liner just to see if this is a problem.

Everything on the bike is stock except the V&H pipes. It is the factory gas cap that is on there. The gas cap clicks only 1 time before you cant turn it anymore. Its not a series of clicks, its just one click after your screw it on. I understand Woodbutcher what your saying about the tank liner and the effect of the ethanol. I guess I just don't understand why I've never had a problem like this with any other bike I've owned. This bike only has 900 miles on it. I guess I was not expecting problems this early. I dont ride my Fury much anymore since I got the Big Dog but I never once encountered any issues like this with it. I'm going to stay positive. I'm gonna wait till Monday and have the shop come get it. This shop mainly works on Harleys and customs so the guys are pretty good with these bikes. I just hope it does not cost a fortune to fix. It is relieving to talk to you guys and hear your thoughts on this as far as how to fix it. Thank you. It was not fun driving on the side of the road for 10 miles at 10mph to get my bike home.

Very simple to go down to the auto parts store and buy 3' of 5/8 fuel line, disconnect the fuel line at the petcock and put on the new hose and stick the other end into a gas can.
If it flows great with the cap on tight until the tank is empty, you can now suspect that there is a problem with the flow into the bowl of the carb. There are only 4 screws that hold the bowl to the carb and you can drop the bowl and see if there is crap in the bowl.
A shop is going to hit you for $75-$90 per hour plus the tow to do the same thing.
Pull the plugs and check them out too, plugs are cheap, pick up two new ones while you are at the auto parts store.

don't go too fast. if the cap is really loose, the venturi effect on the gas cap will put gas all over the tank and you.

If the spark plugs were never changed since new or after the break in, it could be as simple as new plugs and maybe wires.
A dirty air filter could cause most of your symptoms
Also check for a "soft" spot in the fuel line where it may be collapsing on itself.

1) Vapor lock - 2) bad float = both easy fix

With respect to the cap, diff years had different types (click or not click). A quick test is to take the cap off and stick the threaded end in your mouth and see if the check valve opens. Not a 100% test because it may open, but they are preset to a certain psi level before they open.

Drop the bowl, very easy and look for any crap that could have come from lining, unlikely as the petcock screen filter would catch most of it, then replace the float - those thin wire "hinges" can bend easily and sound like your float is stuck in the "up" positiion.

Had a similar prob a long time ago on the K9 - I changed the cap, installed SS fuel lines, in-line fuel filter,changed the float and have never had a problem again. One other thing I did - If you look under your fuel tank on the right side and at the rear - you will see an allen head screwed into the tank. That's used for CA models for EPA - I put a 90 degree elbow on it with a small clear hose and used it as an extra vent line.

Either way because it's a carb bike, the fix will be cheap and easy... hang in there.
