Hey all, talked about Ridgeback and K-9 yesterday on here. I just got an 08 HD Road Glide 2 months ago, Luv the bike, rides like a couch down the road, very very nice, I'm 6-5 220lbs and fits me nice. But I got to ride a K-9 and Ridgeback in Myrtle beach...they were awesome bikes to ride, and luv the style and the fit also. And now debating on buying a dog and selling my Road Glide. If I got one it would be the K-9. But do I sell the Roadglide???can't afford both...confused and frustrated here in MD. Ugggggggggg....HELP!!

I almost didn't get my K-9. I was about to buy a Street Glide or Road King and trick it out. I finally decided I wanted to get away from HD for a change and went with the K-9. I am 6'5" also, although I closer to 275, so I have to consider that when looking for a bike as well. I find the K-9 is very comfortable and have enjoyed having it. It doesn't ride quite like a couch but its pretty damn good. There is no doubt the K-9 looks much better. You won't go wrong with the Big dog in my opinion.

If you think about it , it's kind of like a choice between two different women. Woman #1 is a mature , well maintained lady who can cook , sew, clean house and generally make your life very comfortable. Woman #2 is a young, smoking hot blond that doesn't do any of that but she likes to have unbelievably great sex at least once a day. Take your pick. By the way, I'm 62 years old, sold my Harley and bought a Mastiff and my wife just turned 40. I hired a cleaning lady to help around the house!

I love that analogy... I would say around here we are going to be pretty biased. Now if you can have both it's an easy dilima. Otherwise I am going for the smoking hot blond that craves sex at least once a day.. LOL>>>:2thumbs:

In a sea of harleys at sturgis my K9 had way more women wanting rides. It's like have a nice chevy pickup lifted, clean with a poundin stereo or a fing Ferrari...go figure

I'd go with the K-9!!!

Now don't get me wrong... I love Harleys, and in fact still have my 2001 Dyna Wide Glide sitting in the garage, along with my '05 Chopper. However, EVERY time I go out to ride, and have a choice to ride either one, I ALWAYS ride the Chopper, and I ride it a lot... it's got just over 41,000 miles!

I've also managed to make my Chopper every bit as comfortable as my Harley by adding the BikersFriend bag on the back that doubles as a back-rest. In fact, a friend of mine went out and bought a custom made chopper after riding my bike after being impressed with the comfort and handling of the bike... not to mention the looks.

And no matter what you do to the Harley, it will never stack up to the K-9 in looks with it's 300 rear tire, raked out front end, and over-all unique appearance. Sure, the Harley will be smoother, and servicing may be easier due to more place to get it done, but at this point I don't think I could go back to the Harley... you just can't beat the feeling of riding a chopper style bike. But that's just my opinion. :)

Get the K-9, I love mine and so does the wife. 2-up is a tad firmer ride but who cares, these bikes run like a scalded dog and crotch rockets beware!!!!!!!!

That is the best analogy EVER!!!!!!

For me there is one more thing to consider with the new HD vs the BDM. The HD will be "turn key" as in it won't require much tinkering or daily maintance. Where the BDM is a bit more old school in that dept and it will require "keep up" and some mechanical ability to stay on top of the things.

What I'm saying is that the new HD's are like buying a Honda as far as reliability. Where as the BDM is more like the older, less refined HD's of the past. A bit more maintance to keep them looking and running good.

Take note, that we are 1000 members in which 99% of them all have big dogs. It will still be fine but its something to consider.

Oh... and the wife is 5'7" 130#, not hard on the eyes, and loves to cook and clean! Desires to be a kept woman but cost me too much money to do so. I was always told not to marry a ugly woman cause it just takes too much out of ya.
