I've been down to my local dealer religiously, and I'm in the market for a new K-9, and my local dealer has several 06, and a couple of 07. My question is will the 06s be proned to more problems compared to the 07s. I beleive the K-9 was first introduced in 2006. And what's the major difference between the 06s and 07s.

Thanks in advance

I have a 06 K-9.....I bought it because I got a good deal on the 06...being that they already had 07's on the floor.....I know the 07's have the S&S rocker boxes on them ....I would get one that you like...and one that they will give ya the best deal on....I have 5067 miles on mine....only a few minor problems....that my dealer took care of.......other than that....love it!!:whoop: see what kind of deal they will give ya on a 06... just take your time on picking which one ya want......either way..you will do good!

As I recall, it was somewhere in there that BDM started manufacturing their own frames. One way to tell the difference is the cable guides on the downtubes - in the earlier models, they used a chrome ring around the downtube - on the newer frames, the chrome ring is replaced by a two-pronged guide that is the same color as the frame itself. Functionally, I don't think there is any significant difference between the two different frames.

One of the biggest changes was in the rear struts that support the back fender. The earlier ones were polished billet aluminum, while the later ones are chrome plated. More important is the sissy bar mounting system. The later struts include a hole with a plug in it, which can be removed to insert a sissy bar. Earlier models required replacement of the whole strut system in order to mount the sissy bar - a project that could cost over $600, plus labor. Just look at the struts on each bike - they either have the holes or they don't.

Big Dog does not necessarily introduce all their changes at the break in model year - meaning, you may find some 2006 models with some of the newer features, and some without.

Most of the changes were pretty minor - I don't even recall any others at the moment. They had a very successful model going, so they pretty much stayed the course. You should see some really great deals on the 2006's by now - and even the 2007's, for that matter.

i have an 06 and the only big diff is that the 07's have the struts with the holes for the sissy bar and the S&S rocker boxes...some other minor changes, like the clutch cable is held to the down tube with a billet clamp in 06 and a welded, painted loop in 07...either way, the K9 is the only one to own   :whoop: :spank:

My 07 has chrome rear struts but no holes to mount a sissy bar (ok by me as I want my bitches to press their excessively large breasts against my back.)
