Just needed to rant

So today was my daughter's 9th BD and she's been dying to ride with me on the Dog, so we got her a helmet so she can. After the party we go out for a ride and my daughter is with me and my better half is on a vulcan 500 (she just got her lic. and is still learning). So about 15 min. into the ride a stupid b*$#^ in a mini van (and on a cell phone) pulls right out in front of me from a side street with a stop sign (I was on the main drag) and I had to lock brakes. Everyone is fine, except for the bruise between my shoulder blades from her helmet, but I was fuming so bad I had to pull over for a minute to regain my composure (as I wanted to kick the s$*& out of this idiot). We rode for another 20 min. or so after that and once home my daughter said she loved the ride and can't wait to go out again.

And hours later, I'm still pissed about how bad it could've turned out.

Sucks to hear that bro, but at least everything came out ok. The ride was ruined for you, but not for your daughter, and that is all that matters.

Next time have your daughter bring a slingshot and a pocket full of marbles...if you cant bust ass you can bust glass...lol!!!

Man I am sorry to hear that, glad to hear that everyone is ok, though. Just goes to show you how well people pay attention. Glad your daughter still wants to ride after that. Ride safe

Seems everytime I ride some idiot damn near takes my life. Since I started riding I took an old timer's advice and treat everyone on the road as if they have the potential to kill me. He also told me to try and predict the future while I ride, best I can do is guess what dumbasses are going to do.
Had one guy try and run me down on purpose out of the blue. He was hell bent on killing me with his mitsubishi and I don't even know why. I had to run up on a sidewalk and into someone's front yard just to get away.
I wear full-on gear everytime I ride, full face, padded jacket, gloves and boots. Doesn't feel as cool as just a pair of sunglasses and t-shirt but just can't risk it being a family man now.
Ride safe and enjoy.

Takes a Man to do what you did in front of your wife and daughter.It's hard to settle nerves at such a tense moment.WAY TO GO !!!Cagers like that will have there day...:rant::rant:

Glad nothing serious happened to all 3 of you. :2thumbs:

I'm glad your daughter was still so elated with the ride, and you kept your cool in front of her while dealing with the :loony: drivers out there. :2thumbs:

Seems to me that the "mini van" operators are the worst drivers to deal with. But what else would you expect from an person that buys a vehicle that has a lot of glass in it to enable easier "ejection" of it's occupants. :loony::crazy:

:lol::lol::lol:

Here's a suggestion that I use in those circumstances, granted my kids aren't with me. But you may want to try it, works Great for me. "No More Issues"!

:roll::roll::roll::roll:

:cheers:

Thank god both of you are ok! This stuff is getting worse every day.

I'm Glad your daughter wasn't upset about it, and not want to ever ride again. For all the bad we put up with, nothing compares to riding down the road on a bike.

When I ride with my daughter on the back (or just about anyone for that matter), seems I go to a whole new level of pissed off when there is a run in. It's not little guy syndrome or anything, just messin with me is one thing but do something to harm my daughter and :angry: Sounds like you handled it perfectly! :2thumbs:

Thats awesome that you didnt go off on a rant. When my ex used to drive me and my kiddos around in my lil saturn and people would practically run us off the road or ride my ass in a big truck when its a white out with snow, hed get really pissed off. Screaming and yelling at the other drivers, one time actually pulling over on the Ziwalkie(sp) bridge to confront the truck driver. It would really upset my girls and make them more aware of what was going on. Which inturn would frighten them more during a situation that they would of probally otherwise been unaware of. I give u props for acting like a father and taking ur daughter being with you into consideration. Had you went off on a complete tangent it might of refrained ur daughter from ever wanting to ride again. I know its hard for anyone to hold their tounges and anger in in any situation but for holding it in when something threatened ur daughter is awesome. But if she would of gotten a hurt even just a lil bit i would of been all for u chasing the mini van down and kicking some ass!

Ps sorry about myu poor spelling.

Peace, love and happiness.
