I hope you guys can give me some direction on this one. I have 2010 bulldog with 3k miles on it.

this has happened a few times now. when I riding and get on it thru first and second gear it pulls great then when I shift to third it kills totally. dash goes dark, speedo goes dark just like It was shut off at this point I need to cycle the key and the fuel injection and it takes off. this is very frustrating and embarressing.

any thoughts?

something to try

:flag:Check all your battery cables and the grounds that bolt up in the battery box. If all are tight then take the connectors off the ehc and put dialectric grease in the wire harness connectors and put them back on the ehc. You could also check the wires going into the key switch.I had a similar problem with my 2009 efi k-9 but most of my electrical would stay on like my headlight, but i would loose the fuel pump and a couple other functions like the bike shutting down randomly going down the road. I would stop and cycle the key and it would start again and run fine until it finally quit running for good. Long story short it turned out to be the VFI module.(engine control module). Your problem sounds like you are loosing all power. Check if it quits again and see if you have any electrical working like headlight , turn signals etc. Hope this helps. I have more ideas if it doesn't.

I had the same problem on my 07 Bulldog and I posted the results on the forum.

It ended up being loose wire crimps on the smaller wires to the battery post. The power and ground wires that feed power to the EFI module and I think some to the EHC. This power interruption would completely kill the bike just like you are seeing.

Do what Ground Pounder suggests as well to the EHC but disconnect the battery first. Do the battery reconnect ECH reset process when done.

Let us know the results.
