This may be in the forum somewhere, however I could not find. I am a new Big Dog owner, bought a used 2006 K-9. Been running great, however having issues with the speedo, which could be related to the other problem. The other problem, turned off the bike and tried to start back and got a click and no start, (it had been turning over real slow prior). I put a battery booster on and it just clicked loader, but still would not start. Is it the starter, loose wire or the battery? What should I do. Is there a trouble shooting guide anywhere. Thanks in advance for your help.

Brother welcome to the club. Trust me all the issues you describe are on here. I will tell you what everyone starts with. check your battery and terminals "connections" wires have your battery checked. CCA's. you are in the right forumn for this but you may need more detail. Ie upgrades, battery type CCA's,

Agreed. Welcome, bro. Generally speaking, malfunctioning speedo shouldn't affect starting (I know from first-hand experience...also 06 K9 with bad speedo. Always started fine, just didn't work. Replaced and went on same as always), unless indicative of more serious electrical issue.
Sound like your problem may lie with your battery. Charging a bad battery isn't good enuf. Sometimes neither is having it load tested. I run a standard HD softail battery in mine, and it's never failed me. "Yet," that is. :roll:
Thanks all, this is a great forum, great responses and very quickly. I got it running, I first checked the battery and it was OK, and then I bought a real good charger. But for not starting it was the solenoid. It actually just started working, probally should take solenoid apart and clean later. The is an 06 with only 1000 miles, so I need to ride this thing. Hope everyone has a great time with your bikes. I am sure I will have more questions down the road.

now that you have it running I'd check the charging system for output, to make sure that it is charging properly... if it isnt it will go dead

For awhile i just had to tap my starter with something a little bit to get it moving,but also if you do not have a fully charged working battery you will have all kinds of issues with this bike....definately without a doubt as dumb as it sounds #1 priority is allways make sure your battery is up to par,,,mostly everyone keeps them on trickle chargers
