JUMPING IN 3RD GEAR

Ok guys, let's see who can solve the mystery....to make a VERY long and aggrevating VERY story short, I have had hell with transmissions this summer. I am on trans re-build # 5 since May this year. Finally bite the bullet and bought all new guts and had my shop install everything....everything is fine and quiet and shifting good, except that under hard acceleration in 3rd gear, it kinda jumps/jerks like it's trying to slip a gear....under easy acceleration it doesn't do it....WTF can this be?..... shift pawl needing adjustment maybe?

Mine is now doing the same thing in 3rd gear. Does it need to go to baker or does someone have a how to on this?

I'd call Scott @ Baker and explain it to him. These guy's are customer service friendly and know their shit!

I called Baker they said all I could do was pull it out and send it to them. I was kind of hoping to fix it myself. They have a 3 week turn around and with shipping that makes 5 weeks of the best part of the season gone. Oh well shit happens. Don't much trust the local shops.

Mine started to shutter in 3rd gear also the other day so I pulled my trans apart and found out I had a bad fork. So I called Scott at Baker and ordered 3 new forks and gaskets and will have them by tomorrow. I figured I put all new forks in and be done with it. I should be back on the road by Thursday.

When your bike feels like it is jumping in 3rd gear...it will be bent shift forks. More than likely you will find 3rd counter fork bent and a lot of wear on 2nd main fork. I would also check your fork rod. If you don't check it too...you will bend the forks again. After the repairs are done...you may also want to make sure you didn't have a clutch problem.

Thats correct it was the 3rd counter fork. The 2nd seemed to be fine and I also checked the fork rod by rolling it on the table to see if I had any wobble to it but I didn't. Clutch is fine.

I just replaced my clutch pack today, everything looked fine inside the primary, everything was tight etc., took it for a spin and it slips in third! F&*%! ,shifts fine in every other gear but third., so after reading this thread, it could be a shift fork? Is this something I can do or is it a send it to Baker thing? How much is the fork, etc? Advice or opinions greatly appreciated.
