I am gonna throw another pointer in. With the open pipes without restriction, these motors along with Twin Cams all suffer from reversion at or about the 2500 to 3500 range. I have spent hours on a dyno researching and trying to fix. At this rpm range, reversion does not allow effective scavenging of the spent gases and not allowing the venturi effect that happens. This can be amplified by large overlap cams with alot of duration. I put on an $800 pair of Rhineharts and with the baffles (conmpletely stock), made a number I wasnt completely crazy about at the top end but bottom and mid was incredible. Alot of my riding is done in the 4000 to 5000 range. I took each baffle out and cut off 1/8" at a time and would do another pull. I kept doing this until my numbers where were I wanted and it happened to be at the point where reversion started happening again, but just barely noticable. They are about 3 1/4 inches long. You might try anti-reversionary cones. I think most of the problem is from your pipes and some from jetting and air cleaner. Just my opinion. Good Luck!!
