Jetting question

I agree 31 or 32, and a 76. Dyno is the best way to tune. No baffle, not what I would do. I know my old V&H baffles were way to restrictive and It tuned better without them. If I would have keep the pipes I would have went with a better performance baffle. I now run V&H 2-1 with a full baffle and push about 102 HP on the dyno. Good enough for me.

I'm thinking that with the restrictive aircleaner and the 107 motor he would start with a 29.5 and see how it runs then maybe if he finds the motor can handle it move to the 31.

Another round please
I don't think those mods would really call for anything to be done. The D&M sucks for perfomance. Your not really getting more air in with it. Pipes alone probaby not much difference either. If it runs good. Ride it.

It smells like it is running rich and when I started it up after I got the pipes put on it would blow a little fire out the pipes. I also can wipe the tips off of the pipes and there is black residue present. I don't know if any of this helps at all?

that is way, way rich. Your exhaust should NOT have sooty black residue. Blowing fire out the pipes means you have a BUNCH of gas in the exhaust. I bet you need to have the carb overhauled. Your float valve might even be leaking.

Take it into a BDM dealer.

Now I don't mean it was shooting out flame thrower type of flames. I could just barely see a slight blue flash when I would rev it up.

Is this all the time like when you pull up to a stoplight or just in the garage when you're starting it up? If it's the garage are you using the "enrichener"?

bad bad bad :D

You need to drop the bowl and tell us what jets are in it.

That A/cleaner is like putting a cotten swab in 1 of your nostrills. They look good ,but suffer in the air flow dept.
I've seen as lean as 28 intermediate, and a 68 main jet on reworked 113" motors.I'd start at 29.5 intermediate and 70 main. Jet it on a dyno with a sniffer in the pipe.Your dyno tuner will know where to set the fuel curve, and DON'T FORGET THE TIMING.

Ya I can smell it at start up and say I ride it to work (about a 25 min. trip) I can smell a little fuel when I arrive. I have used the enrichiner in the past, but have learned (on here) that it dosen't get cold enough down here to use it so I have stopped using it. When I get off of this set of nights I will either drop the bowl and get the jet sizes ar just take it over to a local shop and let them dyno and tune it.

Ray, I did call the shop today that is going to do the dyno and they said that they do have the exhaust gas metering sensor.

Thanks for the reply John.......It sucks to have an air cleaner that looks good, but is shit on flow. I am going to give it a try and if I am not satisfied I will go back to the drawing board. They did mention that they would adjust the timing as well.

Just trying to get everthing ready for the nicer weather that will be coming up.

Just a note, the stock S&S is actually a great air intake
rhino got it.With the extension kit,it can't be beat.
Also,Kury Hi-five,and Kury Hypercharger Pro R..................IMO,I don't think you'll find any better flowing A/C than these 3.

I have no doubt that it is a great air intake, I just wanting something that looks a whole lot better.

John, If I am not happy with what I have I will look into those listed. Hell this is my first bike ever so I wouldn't know if it was running at the top of its abilities or not!

The dyno can read the exhaust gas and determine which jets you need.

This is not exactly true. My bike runs awesome on the DYNO but .... when you take it out on the highway and 70 MPH of wind is being shoved into the intake it acts as tho it is leaning out really bad .... or atleast it is stumbling bad. DYNO's are great unless you have a forced air type intake. Just my $.015:cheers:

I have the same shit happen to me with my 2008 pitbull. I have a twisty cone air cleaner and VH pipes. I put bigger jets in and it seems to run awsome until it gets windy outside. When I go with the wind it is a perfect ride. When I go against the wind it stumbles a lot. Any good fixes or suggestions.
