Jester Wheels on Ridgeback

Well I went on a limb and bought a set of used Jester wheels off an 07 Mastiff to put on my 05 Ridgeback. Having them sent to the chrome shop before I even get to see them in person first. Has anyone done this and what's your thoughts as far as looks go? I'm kind of sick of the pitchfork style and these have always been my favorite BDM wheel.

I'll post pics, but I probably won't have them for awhile.

I'm worried about the front wheel. An 05 Ridgeback has a 3.5" wide front right? I got worried when I read on BDMPP that the Jester requires a 120-130 series tire and I thought the Ridgeback takes a 90 series.

You might want to check that front tires fitment before you have chrome work done... Just saying

I found out:

Ridgeback - 21"x2.15"
Mastiff - 21"x3.5"

The guy I'm buying it off said that it will fit as far as axle spacing and mounting, but I would either need to get a 5.5" front fender (like a bulldog) and the mounting brackets & hardware OR run no fender. Is this right? What do you think?

I'm kind of stuck right now, because these are in SC and I'm in PA. If I get these and have sent straight to the chrome shop and they end up not fitting, I'm going to be screwed out of alot of money.

Will the 5.5" fender even fit on a ridgeback? Rubwhore put a different front end on his chopper I thought? I can measure the width of my 04's front end tonight if you want.

I'm not sure a wider front tire would look proper on the ridgeback either. I also think it will make it a little more akward to turn.

It sounds like it might be more trouble than its worth, hopefully someone will be able to chim in with more knowledge. Sometimes the best throw of the dice is to throw them away

You might end up with a MESS.....

I have seen this happen many a time - you see something you like and then try to reverse engineer it to fit your bike. (The wheels were up on ebay at an attractive price - you jumped on it. Now got to make them to work)

By the time you add it up and put it all together it "might" not be worth it....

For a few $$$ more you can pick up a chromed version of the wheels that will "bolt on" (nothing bolts on - lol) and it will save you a ton of aggravation.

I have both a K9 and a Mastiff - the FRONT wheels are way different and are designed to suite each bike's ride i.e. rake, trail, frame, etc. changing the wheels will change the geometry and effect your ride.

The fender, brackets and spacers will be a whole other story - just a new fender along with matching paint could set you back a pretty penny.

Just some friendly advise here - do give it some thought before you jump in.
Good luck

Decided to not chance it. I might not like the look plus all the extra money involved when my wheels are in perfect shape. O well, looks like the pitchforks are heading to the chrome shop instead.

I would have made the same decision :flag:

I think the larger tire would look great on your Ridgeback, you would have to buy a new fender and mounting bracket. I would ask Ruwhore about fitment and the ride.

Heres the reel deel the bike will ride and control better with a 3 and a half inch front wheel but you do have to change to a wider front fender as far as spacing most Bigdog factory bikes haint spaced rite anyway but you wont have to redo the spacers cool thing is that unless your reely looking noone will notice the bigger wheel.I personally never cared for the 05 pitchfork wheels especially after the rear wheel recall as you dont no unless you bought the bike ifins you got it changed out.

You'll be fine there won't be no problem with steering now the fender might be an issue but that's easy to fix actually you'll have better steering than you had with that skinny Tire
