You going to Yokosuka or Sasabo? You'll find a lot of HD's out there. There are a lot of HD clubs there as the Japanese like these bikes.

Have fun

And be preparded to comply with Japanese emission standards. It'll have to pass them before you can ride it over there. They are tougher than California emission standards.

What Larry said! Just like the strict States here, guys keep there stock equipment to get legal at registration. If I recall, the fines are pretty steep also.

Oh yeah.....we had to have our headlights changed before they changed to left-side driving. That was for cars....not sure of motorcycles. I was on Okinawa for 6 !/2 years. Same laws there. Changed from right-side driving to left-side driving while I was there. And the vehicle inspections sucked as well. Very, very strict. If a rubber bushing had a crack in it or was weather cracked.....had to replace it. Just sayin'......

Dres, who you going to there? I left there just over a year ago. I took my GSX-R 750 over there and it cost about $1,500 before I could finally get it on the road... including all the taxes, insurance and testing.

You'll hear about him when you get there (if your sponsor hasn't mentioned anyhting yet), but there's a guy there that does a lot of legwork for motorcycle guys... Sato. He's a good guy and helped me with anything I needed.

BUBBA, yes i did hear about him, lol i guess everyone knows about sato, im waiting for my bike to get going. they said that since its carburator it should be easier to tune up. im gonna order some torque cones in there also to see if it makes a difference. I heard that it improves the emission final result but not sure about it. Yes i did hear the fees are quite expensive, but itll be worth it,

It is a bit expensive... more than what you'd ppaay if you were able to do it on your own. Plus if you have more than one person you can do it with, the price will drop as they don't charge per vehicle, but rather for using it.

To me... I didn't have the time because we were constantly in and out of atsugi as we were getting ready to deploy, so it was worth it to me to pay him what it was gonna cost to have him just handle everything I needed short of insurance to be able to ride.

Who are you attached to? I was in 136 over there.

Bubba, im with HSL-51, i met with sato and now im trying to get the paperwork from Big Dog which has been a pain in the a#$. I think I got somewhere with them now. My only deal now is i put the stock pipes for emissions and im spitting out oil from the exhaust.

I can only imagine the pain in dealing with that... I was lucky, I had my GSX-R at the time so he had the go-to for all of the info needed for everything.

Good luck over there, they're crazy out there in their cages. You gonna be living on base?

yea im all settle on base, just dying to take the bike out and ride around. I did all my courses already, just waiting on paperwork, hopefully it comes soon. I guess he also needed a copy of the owners manual, so i should be getting all that soon

Well stay safe out there on the roads. Their cars are small... but the roads are even smaller. It was a tight fit on my Gixxer in a few spots (passing by people at lights), so not sure how you'll do with the Dog.
