Doin some maint. on the Pit to get ready for Oklahoma next weekend and volia.....cracked pipes for the 3rd time! I love the look of the MLB's but I gotta figure a way to float the ass end so they will quit cracking? I have a solid piece of teflon behind the MLB mount thinking this may help, but alas....no. So I'm open to ideas. I'll post up some pics after work today. I've racked my pea brain and can't seem to find a solution. Perhaps there is none?

Harry,
Where are they cracking ?
The only issues I had were with the heat shields and I had them on free floating?

Also are you mounting them to the transmission ?

Post up the pics.

Teflon is probably too hard not really a great material to reduce vibration.

Check for rubber isolators. They are made in just about any configuration that you could want.
They make a rubber isolater good enough to stand the heat?

Think maybe a piece of rubber from an engine mount? Problem is those don't anything hot. Either your rubber is on trans or exhaust side, neither are good.

20160814_130601.jpg 20160814_125516.jpg They are cracked around the mounts. The other pic is the mount on the trans.
I thought about free floating them, but didn't wanna chance breaking the exhaust studs.... :(

Alrighty, got em TIGGED up nice n cheap, just the way I like it. I was talking with a buddy at work today tho. He builds and races bad ass bikes. I was gonna have HIM tig them, but he dropped a 6lb slug on his foot the other day so I didn't wanna be a dick. Showed him some pics and he said the reason they are cracking is the rear mount. He said to free float em....SO, if the exhaust studs break off, its over to HIS shop for the fix....lol. Got my fingers crossed.....

Edit: got the pipes on and even without the rear trans mount, they are solid. Hoping they work like hotrod headers....not much holds them on either and they do take the torque. We shall see .....we shall see.
