iso 117 heads

anybody have a set of heads they are willing to part with? on inspection tonight i found the dreaded hourglass on the valve stem!!!

I'm sure someone will chime in and disagree with me, but with the mark in the center of the valve stem your ok. Sniper just had his engine beefed up, and he has the TP heads. That's how his looked and they just rebuilt them. He sent it to some specialty shop that did more than just rebuilt them. Something about tigging and reshaping the ports. When I asked about the TP head problems, they said that his were good.
I wish he would get on here and explain what all he had done. I can't remember what all he did. 650 cam, bored the carb ventura, thunder jet, new pistons, and shaved the jugs, new ignition. Dynoed at 145 hp. I'll see if I can get him say something on here. He's not much of a computer guy.

So why replace the heads. I would just get a complete valve job, replace the Valves, guides, springs and upgrade to the S&S Rocker Boxes complete with rockers and all. Its going happen again unless you upgrade to the S&S Rocker Boxes. :2cents:

thanks shannon,, when i was putting my pipes back on i noticed i had alot of oily residue in the exhaust port and pipe, so i decided i would open the lid and check the valve stem for problems,, in your op you think this looks ok??? 40k on tp rockers! the pic scares the hell outta of me, bikes been sitting all winter and it gets nice and i find this! F#@@k the intake valve looks perfect not a mark on it, was getting a slight tic from the front jug also

carlos, that is the plan on going complete s&s, but with a qoute of at least 6 weeks turn around from andrew to rework the heads thats half my riding season up north, lol, buying new heads and rockers, boxes gaskets etc i could be up and running by the weekend,
