WSW puts a simple kit together to replace the BD EHC with the original Thunderheart EHC.
No need to tear the wiring out of your bike.
Make a couple of simple mods, replace the BD EHC with the Thunderheart and your problems are solved.

Thanks guys, better start saving.
Am I missing something or does this whole system just seem way over engineered and fails alot for the 10 or so functions it performs? I am new to custom bikes, so maybe this is the norm. I would never have guessed I was signing up for these problems when I bought my bike....But we'll get her right!!

Don't give up . Theres plenty of ways to solve / rid
your bikes eletrical problems.
I recomend the Thunderheart Chopper/Bobber wire kit .
Its about $250 - I have installed them on a few bikes - no problems .
Rip out the BDM wires .
Your 03 is the best Chopper made - HD hand controls- right side drive .
Solve your wire issue and you have the scoot of a lifetime .
Plenty of help here on the BDB forum.

At leased with the 03 and older, with the Harley controls, their easy to hard wire. I wish they had all these options back when I needed it.

Awesome. Well it looks like I lucked out for now, It seems to have just been the ignition key switched. Got a new stock one off ebay, and it seems to be straight. Taking it on a trip tomorrow, we'll see!!!

Thanks!

I hook the charger up and lights come on, but the key is still off. Is there a short somewhere else in the system? Or is this EHC problems?? FML THANKS GUYS

This is the best advice you will get. There are no short cuts or better ways to fix all the electrical problems on a BD.

I appreciate that. I am a pretty handy guy, shouldn't be a problem to install. Do you know where I can by it? Is this equivalent to the WSW kit?I just want the poor dog to run reliable, not looking for a hot rod.. Thanks again!

Well, you will need the Thunderheart kit which you can find on ebay but you will also need Harley bars, controls and handlebar wiring. Not sure if the speedometer and tach will work with this set up maybe someone else will. I'm going that route as soon as I get time.

Redog, I just finished the WSW kit on my 03 chopper! Its your call, but it was an easy install, reasonably priced, and fixed all my problems! Give Curtis a call.
