I was on a long ride on Saturday and noticed a metal clanging noise when I hit any bumps on the way home. I stopped and found that my fork cap had completely unscrewed. Upon closer inspection, I saw that the oil residue from that side traveling was almost up to the bottom tree on the forks. The residue from the other side was about 3 inches lower. Now when I hold the front brake and cycle the front suspension it sounds like something scraping, almost as though there is no oil. Going to try to get it into a dealer this week. I thought that a SuperBrace would help add a little more stability to the front suspension.

as far as the scraping goes, sounds like the bushings are worn and gouging into the lower tubes. especially if you're leaking oil out of the fork. how many miles you got on it?

Hi. Did you find out what the clanging noise from the front fork was? I am experiencing the same problem with my 2006 K-9. I took it to the dealer, they had it for six weeks, replaced the fork seals and lower tubs because they said that was the problem. I got the bike back yesterday and it is still making the same noise whenever I go over bumps...

I've got a 04 Mastiff and I've not had any problem like that. Having said that, it's all really a part of what sort of roads the bike gets put on day in and day out. The fact that fluid is showing up suggests that the seals on the front tubes might need to be replaced. Another thing to consider is metal against metal noises are present which suggests that the problem should be dealt with urgently. Coarse that's just my 2 cents.:2thumbs:

I need to find out what this is too. I took my 05 Ridge up to the thicket a couple weeks back and on some big bumps got the same noise. I'm checking my caps here shortly. Almost sounded like a loose inner primary chain at the time.:bang:

Hi guys, for those of you whot might be experiecing the same clunk, clunk metal noise coming from the front fork area when going over bumps on road... It took the guys at the dealer quite a bit of troubleshooting to find the problem. Originally, they thought it was the front fork seals -and they changed those, then they changed the front fork tubes -same problem, then they adjusted the bearing torque....

This is what they finally found after taking my K-9 in for the second time: It seems that the problem on bike had to do with the front part of the gas tank banging on the frame tub underneath. Strange becuase the rubber mounts for the gas tank had been replaced not too long ago, and they are still in good shape. Anyway, they ended up putting some rubber pieces under the front part of the tank to aleviate the problem. Originally we all thought it was coming from the front fork, including the mechanics at the dealer.

I hope this helps in case you're having the same problem.

Mine ended up being fork seals. I had them replaced and the issue was gone. I'm going to have them checked again when it goes in for the warranty wheel at Creative.
