Hi guys i have a question about the woods W9B camshaft. I have 03 mastiff with the 107ci and I measured the cam lift at the valve spring and it was .569 is this a proper way of checking cam lift? I checked my springs and have no red stripes on them but they look to be triple springs but not sure if they are just double springs with a dampner. The heads on the bike are super stock s&s or so they say on the side of them. I was just wondering if i could run the woods W9B with the springs I have? I called woods today and thats the cam he recomended he also felt that the springs I have would work with his cam but said I should check so i figured i check with the guys who know thanks in advance.
Is the woods W9B cam to much?

Call S&S tech with your engine #,and they'll probably be able to tell you.

The springs in the 05 I had were triple But the inner spring was acctually a flat wound dampnerer and not considered part of the valve spring capacity. The True triple wound red strip spring from S&S is designed for .640 lift.
W9 I believe is a .650 lift
As far as measuring existing cam you can do this by measuring the pushrod travel and multiplying that number x 1.6 which is the rocker arm ratio for stcok rocker arms. and would suggest that you have roller tip rocker arms as well
I don't think BD used the .569 comp cam until 2005 with the 117's and the TP rocker boxes. After that I beleive they went to the S&S .546 in 07 and 08. (That is what was in my 08). They also went to a lighter vavle spring which is a single wound beehive style for a .585 lift cam and non-roller tip rocker arms

Stupid question and not trying to hijack thread but from a stock cam to a .630 lift cam how much difference in sound is their on a 117. Not looking for hp gains just a different sound and do you have to pull the heads to replace springs are can you pressurize the cylinder?

Hey Busa you still would need to check which valve springs you have. You might want upgrade to the .640 springs. The stock 05 springs were rated only to about .600.
