Aint this a bitch. i was thinking after Westcoast closed along with Ironhorse and it seems tobe OCC isnt doing that good that Bigdog could takeover the chopper/custom motorcycle market but i guess not.I think (we) as bigdog owners have the best looking custom out there hand down.just my opinion

So, I'd expect Wire+ upgrades to be moving out the door at a brisk pace!

On the "Federal law requires warranty work for X years," I'd recommend case studies of what happened when AMC and Isuzu went under. It was a crap house mess. That old "By Law" argument always cracks me up....the Feds ain't there to protect the individual no matter what they claim and the BDM dealers can't make the problem go away like Detroit did back in the day.

Look on the bright side....we're all riding collector's items!

Well I didn't say it would go well. Look at what the Buell owners are going thru.

Good point Chris...Buell is probably a better example, though at least he's making an attempt at a comeback

BUMMER! you know i was thinking something didn't smell right when they told me the exhausts were discontinued, then i looked & their were NO accesories available! NO forward controls, NO oil coolers etc. I can't help but kinda feel sorry for the new member in S.L.C we all welcomed just a few days back that proudly stated "we bought 50% of the dealership" 50% of a dead horse is still a dead horse! I still LOVE my K9 & i hope that they do eventually come around, THANKS to Lena, Gas Man & everybody else here at the BDM site for their help & support, I'm gonnna go ride my collectors item

RETIRED
I bought my Bulldog from American Classic motorcycles in Richmond, Va. And the owner acted like my best friend. He wanted me to join his rider group and I guess we would have been life long friends--except he forgot to tell me he was filing bankruptcy the next week. I didn't know until the following week when I went back for the 500 mile check and the doors were locked and a sign on the door that said they were closed. My wife had a number for the secertary that did our paper work and we got enough info from her to get my title before all the shit hit the fan. I guess what i'm trying to say is "the same old shit, just another day".

Further the warranties will be funneled through that brand name. He has to honor all warranties and must provide parts servicing for 7 years (Fed regs/laws).
Not sure where/who told you this, but I can assure you that its total Bull Shit.

Just read this:

Big Dog Motorcycles furloughs workers, still open

Mike Simmons, president of Big Dog Motorcycles in Wichita, says he’s heard the rumors that the company has closed.

They aren’t true, he says.

“We’re still open just like we were last week,” he says.

He admits work has slowed and says that the company furloughed 10 employees last week due to a moratorium on production.

Simmons wouldn’t comment on the future of the company. He says the jobs eliminated last week could come back if production picks up again.

Custom motorcycle shop owner Cyril Huze published in a blog Monday that the company had begun calling its dealer network to tell them Big Dog was closing its doors.

One dealer, Tom Sproven of Werner Cycle Works in Omaha, Neb., has yet to get that call.

Sproven says he talked with someone at Big Dog Monday morning about a customer’s bike and nothing about a closing was mentioned.

I agree BDM brand doesn't exist anymore, they went bankrupt nobody pick up the brand and took over. Coleman open another company with a different name
and I don't think so he still have to honor the warranties. I wouldn't surprise that he would help out some how who still be under warranty (as my bike) but he is not obligated. My bike is only 5 month old and at this point I don't aspect any free reparation. I just feel bad for those people that lost their jobs and for Mr. Coleman that put all his life and resources to build his dream.
I won't be surprise if he will return back though.

Fellas'....doesn't really matter, Life goes on...trust me.

As far as the "collector item" comment, AIH made less bikes, that means mine is more collectible than yours

This is truly a sad day, I bought my '99 Bulldog back in July of '99 and the dealership went out of business the day I picked it up after waiting 4 months for it to be built. Now I have the K9 that I bought new about this time last year in Tulsa, so much for the warranty, now I don't have to wait to drop a cam in do I?

Companies file for bankruptcy / restructuring all the time to wipe debt; I doubt any of us here (save for those from BDM in the know) can say what will become of them. We've heard about the BDM Parts company with Sheldon owning parts etc....who knows, but look at what GM and Chrysler did (granted public company - but similar practice) right.
Either way, I'm happy to own 2 BD's and not going to sweat it much, wish the best for all involved of course.
On the bright side, I've got a couple of gold EHC's for sale.....$1995.99 + shipping....:D j/k.....
