Coming from Big Dog of Atlanta...to their knowledge...BD closed the plant and immediately re-opened BD Parts. I canceled an order for a spare key. :(

Well.... that sucks for sure. However, there is always a bright side :D Wont be as many people running around on our bikes  Not sure what that'll due to the value of em....maybe worse (can it get worse), maybe better. who knows?

Doesn't affect my bike much. Mines a keeper. With the reports of BD PP, most of us should be fine as far as parts too. There was starting to be a few too many on the road anyways... jk

When I first got my pit, 2004... I felt like a rockstar every time I rode it. It drew alot of attention. These days, not so much. The BD population in my area has grown tremendously since '04. I aint saying that's a bad thing, just that, it aint gonna get anymore watered down now.

Those of us with em, will now have unique custom bikes that others, regardless of wallet, cant just go out & buy.

So what would be a list of propriety parts that would need to be odrered from Big Dog? Fenders, Tank, Bars, Seats, Backrest, Frame ??? Where do they get their forks? Do they actually make their seats in house? I don't believe any of the drive train has to be ordered from BD. I'm sure we'll survive this until they get restructured

Thats whats gonna be so amazing about this seats are a perfect example
if you buy won from BigDog you pay threw the nose and the quality sucks but if you call sterling you can get a quality custom seat for less money ,some of the sheet metal may be a problem but I dont see where its gonna be either all the drive train stuff haint propritery the only reel issue I see is the handle bar boards otherwize theres sources for everything

The banks don't want motorcycles, they want their money. hate to hear the bad news, but sounds like the time to pick up a bike on the cheap.
Not true... you can't buy them. The bikes are owned by BDM, which is owned by the bank.

Wow, if Lena says Rick was contacted by the owner, then it must be true...Yes, it's very sad...I'm sure glad I got them to fix my bike back in Jan. The place looked like all the employees just vanished...I seen parts still in vices and laying on the tables just like they left them...Shane and Will was the only Mechs left and a painter...Bob looked depressed in Feb as well...

I'm pissed, cause I wanted some day to own a dealership!
I have spoke with Rick, yes Fairless, earlier today. He has also confirmed this. I have been in contact with Cyril since the other day and helped him break the news. It's not a rumor.

The worst part is that Sheldon didn't even tell some of the employees. That's down right disrespectful.

how is this going to work in getting parts for the dogs and what about warranty work?
The parts will come from the BDM Performance Parts which is being run by Sheldon, Jim Nasi, and Nick Messer. Sheldon has already mortgaged himself to "re-purchase" the now bank owned BDM parts. Further the warranties will be funneled through that brand name. He has to honor all warranties and must provide parts servicing for 7 years (Fed regs/laws).

You can probably forget about any warranty work. It is likely void since the company has folded
See above.

The dealers that were more proavtive found out sooner. Like Strokers.

Haus of Trikes and Bikes, BDM dealer, didn't know anything about it today when I called and asked Paul.
See above. The receptionist in this thread wasn't even told and her speaking out of turn and off cuff is irresponsible. But not as bad as her upper management.

worked for a yacht builder 6-7 years ago. one day business as usual, next day an off-site meeting that everybody had to attend. they lock and chained the gates and put armed guard at the entrances and wouldn't even let us go in and get our own personal tools($$$) until several days later and then only 2 at a time with a guard to make sure we didn't steal anything.

just saying, that's corporate for you.
