Howdy!

Funny thing, Nationwide has no issue taking your policy @ the start of your run only to knock the value down in the 1st year by 35%. I called bullshit on them and their agent and now just got an independent appraisal from a 3rd party. We'll see how see stand after all the $$ mods and stuff.

Who's had to do this? Appraisals aren't cheap!!!

Thanks,

Tommy:angry:

I ditched nationwide because of the appraisal crap, and a few other blunders. I was with them for my auto, and renters policy for over five years with no issues. As soon as I started my bike policy they went stupid. Out of the blue they jacked my rate up $720 a year. I called to find out what the hell was going on,and they told me my rate was being raised because my bike is a custom bike, and therefore required an appraisal to set a value, and they would adjust the rate accordingly after that. I switched to progressive, pay less than half of what nationwide was charging, and have more coverage.

I've got Progressive also, but doesn't it seem strange that they'll only cover your bike for "Blue Book"...plus any proven aftermarket parts? It seems to me that with the high-priced OEM parts,ie:S&S 117" motor,Baker DDS 6 speed,PM calipers,etc...that they would insure it for more due to high "replacement" costs of just OEM parts! My '05 Chopper books at only about $12k+...I guess the truth hurts!

I got nationwide just under 400.00 for a yr.. they tried tried to jack it up because it's custom.I told them it was production bike...but the dealer wrote up an appraisal for a beer at 25000.00..3 yrs ago haven't heard from them since ..sent the appra and pic and all is gold...knock on wood

Rocky and I both have ours insured via Geico. Her '03 Mastiff is $330/yr and my '05 Pitbull is $405/yr. Had one claim 2 years ago following a wreck. Actually was able to upgrade including totally new paint job, seat, fender, tire, mirrors, forks, rear wheel, pegs and a few other items. Never had a moment's problem. They sent an adjuster over that had experience in custom bikes and worked with Deep South Choppers (where repairs were made) to get actual costs and repairs.

I think Geico quoted me about $1400 P/Yr. Needless to say told them where to shove it! :flag:

I can't hardly believe that. Your year model is right in between ours. I think they must have quoted your house with your bike. :job:
Living in a city, you dont even want to know how much I pay. Went with Nationwide it is less than GEICO but still rediculously expensive.:job:

Living within the borders of the Desoto National Forest in south MS does have its advantages. Just never knew that cheaper insurance was one of them. But that only goes for bikes. Since I don't fire hydrant with 1000 feet of my house (because there are no fire hydrants in the national forest) my home owners insurance is outreageous.
