I believe( and someone will correct me) that the 04- and the 05+ are going to be different. 04's will be tougher to find. If it is in fact the silver RIP module that crapped, perhaps a deeper dive into the harness may reveal why? Sure dont wanna end up buying 2!

Hey guys!
Ok. I’ve got an 04 Mastiff. We have verified that the module is bad. A few questions. With regard to the RIP kits, what are the differences between one for an 04 and the ones for 05 and up? Will they crossover? Next is that my actual harness is good. That being said I should be able to simply switch the module and not have to retire the bike correct?
Harry is correct about the’04 & ‘05 being different. Is your current EHC the stock EHC?And if you have a’04 & you are sure that your harness is good you need to contact Curtis @ Wildsteedworx and see if he can get you a’04 Axel EHC replacement. These are the best in my opinion. The EHC on my ‘04 ridgeback was 20 years old and shit the bed on me last summer. The Axel EHC is plug & play with your current wiring setup. Very easy to install at home. I would recommend this over the RIP kit that BigDog has even though I believe they are a good replacement also. Just a little more involved as far as installation. Best of Luck! Keep us posted on your progress!

04 and 05 are completely different. No they won’t cross over. And if it was me I would call Curtis at wild steed Worx and get the EHC he sells. To me much easier to install and a lot more options on the unit itself. Axel has pretty much the best one(in my opinion).

UPDATE GUYS! So here’s the skinny of it all. Original EHC was toast. Curtis out at WSW is GREAT! If you got an EHC issue get the AXEL unit from him. It really is PLUG N PLAY! About an hour if your drinking coffee and shooting the s@*t. Last, but not least, if you’re looking for a shop in the Midwest then call CHI-SOUTH CUSTOMS in Monee IL!!! Those guys are great! A group of old school, straight shooting, honest men!!!
Thanks to everyone for the help to a new to Big Dog guy! More to come!
