Yep, GREAT S&S videos available on youtube. I used to think carbs were voodoo white-man magic, these vids are informative and easy to follow-don't miss them.

I think we forgot to tell you to have a camera available so you can take pictures as you go and then can use them for reference if you have to backtrack. Relax and take your time, these carbs are fairly easy to work on. Lots of support here.

A little TIP on the FSD Exhaust that I forgot to tell ya earlier, when you get them mounted you want to just get the nuts on just about finger tight and then thread in the 1 bolt that holds the two pipes together at the bottom. Also, the bolt that is sent to you with the exhaust is junk my head snapped off. I would recommend taking that bolt included with the exhaust to Lowes and getting a stainless steel grade 8 bolt that matches and chuck the other one in the trash. After you throw a bunch of anti-seize on and tighten the two pipes to each other then you can torque the exhaust to the heads per spec :D

thanks eric, steve
camera i have, bolt i will definetely get, after going thru the videos, im seeing that the bowl on the carb is dropped to get easy access to the jets, of course drain the fuel in the bowl first, are there any other gaskets i may need for this project

shouldn't need any gaskets the one in the carb right now are probably fine if they are not currently leaking. Don't have to drain the bowl just lower it shut the petcock off and dump into a container.

the one thing i cant figure out is how do i get my exhaust flanges on the new pipes, it will probably explain itself , as i take the stock exhaust off?

You can probably find a video on Youtube. Basically you remove the snap rings (instructions may call them circlips) and flanges from your current exhaust and move them to the new exhaust.

well the air cleaner didnt get hear today but thats on usps, i installed the exhaust thinking the mailman was dropping the part you can imagine how twisted i am right now, only the fact that the weather is bad is all thats keeping me from pulling the rest of my hair out, so the installation continues
thanks fellas for all the input

:2thumbs:can't wait to see some pics
someone on here gave some advice about cleaning (alcohol ?) newly installed pipes prior to firing the bike up...something about burning finger prints into the chrome or some shit like that....have no idea if it is valid but sure sounds like a good idea and certainly would not hurt

Yes cleaning with rubbing alcohol is a good idea. Oils from fingers and making the pipes can make stains that would need to be polished back off.
This is more prevalent on ceramic coating in my experience.

Information strait off Vance & Hines web site | Information will come with new pipes as well
1. When installing a new set of chrome pipes, make sure your hands are clean and free of oil. After installation, thoroughly clean pipes with a soft cloth and cleaning solvent that will leave no residue (chrome wax / polish, glass cleaner, alcohol, ammonia, etc...) before starting the motorcycle.
2. Avoid long periods of idling as this can cause discoloration.
3. Intake leaks can cause the engine to run lean and overheat, this could lead to discoloration.
4. Make sure there are no exhaust leaks at the junction of the exhaust pipes and cylinder head.
We recommend replacing gaskets if they are worn.
