Installed cruisemate!

Rode to Oklahoma for the holiday weekend and decided to install the cruisemate. Like most of the ideas I have about pouring $$$ into my ride, they usually fade away after the bills are paid. But the cruisemate is definately the cat's meow.....what a difference the ride back home was! Forward controls, cruisemate and a new seat (next month) and I'll be set for Sturgis.

Any problems, issues, suggestions, advice for those (like me) who have purchased, but yet have installed their cruisemate? (been too busy riding to install it)

It's an easy install and most here have done it themselves. Only issue that has popped up on here is ensuring that you get all the metal drilling fillings out of the hand control.

No issues or problems here, it pretty much does what it's suppose to. Just wished I'd done it sooner.

About how long does it take to install one of these? I have been debating getting one myself but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

maybe 30-45 min... depends on if youve had the hand control apart & know how everything works.. I had all my shit laid out before I started & did mine in about 30min...

Like Raywood said, make sure no metal shavings get into the hand control. Surrounding the small electrical plug in the hand control is a sticky substance that I suppose is there for moisture control. When I drilled out my hole, some metal particles got on that substance. I used an air lance to blow it out but didn't get all the small specs that stuck to the insulation. When I plugged it back up, the starter stayed engaged after cranking. Took it back apart and removed the insulation and put dielectric grease in its place. I would suggest using some cotton or napkin to make a plug to keep any metal shavings out of the hand control. May save you some time.

Hole...

Ease into the drill slowly when you start the hole.....the drill will try and bind as you are drilling 3/4 of a hole ( you will see when you read the destructions )....we were done in 30 minutes as well....

I also purchased some spare throttle cables prior to my cruisemate install. I figured it would be as good a time as any to replace them. And sure enough, one of the cables was frayed, so I was glad I had them onhand.

Another round please

I agree. I had to take back apart to blow the shavings out again.

Scott hit me up I still need to install mine. Ride over and we will do them both. Works better with the extra set of hands.

Brian, good idea. I just haven't gotten around to it, so we'll get them knocked out.
