Inspection Issues - Cause for alarm?

So a K9 I am considering having shipped from San Diego had a couple of issues I wanted to share with the group.. I realize this is a somewhat ambiguous request for opinions because I don't know anything more than what is written in this report, but please let me know your thoughts:


ENGINE MECHANICAL - RUNS/FLUID LEAK - FUEL LEAK

FRAME MOTORCYCLE - COSMETIC HEAVY - BOTTOM FRAME GOUGED

There are a few of things I wanted to elaborate on regarding this Report; It looks like it does have a couple of leaks but they are minor.

The "Gouge" on the undercarriage can plainly be seen in photo #14; Looks like it bottomed out at some point, but fortunately that part doesn't show as its underneath

For a bike that only has 1600 miles I don't completely understand why it would be leaking anything..

How old is the bike? Gaskets will deteriorate and harden with age. If it sat for a long period of time I would expect it. With only 1600 miles it musta been a garage queen instead of a rider. Aint nothing but a thing.....parts is parts.

Thanks for the offer, but I believe the bike is now in San Diego. FYI, they are offering to send it to me with a fender-to-fender 90 day warranty.. and a 3 day rescission period (I would need to pay $500 to have the bike shipped back to San Diego). The oil concerns me a lot less than the fuel FYI..

Fleabay shows "no longer available". Im gunna guess you bought it already and just in the process of getting it home. Its a 12 yr old bike that has sat for a while. Its begging for some tlc. Tear it down and rebuild fixing what was wrong. You will bond with your new pup in a unique way.

Correct. They removed the bike and put it on hold after I gave them a $250 good faith deposit.

Fuel leak could just be the over-flow of the carb or a bad fuel line/clamp, nothing major, bike sitting a lot and the gas will mess the carbs up. $66 for a master rebuild kit. Depends on where the oil leaks are.

don't know about everywhere else, but this fuckin' island has speed bumps all over it making it almost impossible to not have some scrapes on the bottom. even if you come to a complete stop, stand up, and walk the bike over the speed bump, chances are you are gonna scrape.

From my painful experience buying 12 year old Bulldog - You will most probably need new gasket seals in primary cases - square profile gives better seal from Wild Steed Worx - Take off /clean fuel lines and dismatle carb and give it total clean and buy a carb kit to change gaskets etc. Fit an Axel EHC if you are lucky enough to have cash left over [for peace of mind!!] - If the air-ride leaks [mine did!] suggest rip it out and fit after-market shocks. Youtube has all the Bigdog video tutorials you will ever need to do it yourself, I am no engineer but saved shed loads of dosh and had fun watching this guy!!! see https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCozcwVRWRP6ifgrUom6BpmA

Well .... found out later that it had a California Salvage status ....that was a bit of a shocker and doesnt suggest too much care!!!!
No damage, frame good and straight, paint all good, low miles, brake control needed rebuild and wiring loom had pulled apart under the tank, a few minor jobs so heaven knows why and never have been able to find out what or why . bike is in Uk with me now.

Buy the looks of the picture, it more looks like a light paint pop and hardly any metal being pulled off for say... a long time at speed.
I wouldn't buy it even if it was lightly thrown down the road. Energy likes to bend things; if you get my velocity.
Buy reading above saying, RUNS, it more or less shows compression.
Buy reading into that, you'd assume the bike idles and starts fast so it means clean carb circuits, and says this is out of the way.
Buy saying spark is out of the way being it runs, hello? We have a RUNNER!
Buy it or I will. A clean looking shock says indoors kept. The belt looks new and it too is clean.

So it runs and what was the price of the bike? It could be deceiving, but is that a drip coming off that steel oil line where the frame skid mark is? Where is the oil line on the frame? You'd at least see an etched line in the paint, but it looks clean and dry. If those are sweat marks and not a leak that peppers the bike and leaves a plop on the ground, I'm getting a hard on for this bike again. The fuck is wrong with these guys starting a bike with a fuel leak. Address this first thing before starting.

ENGINE COSMETIC - EXTERNAL FLUID LEAK - OIL SEEP LEFT SIDE

Here we are again. Are we a weep, seep, or leak? To me, weep and seep are sweat every couple of thousand miles, not park it and a puddle next day on the floor>>> is not a leak per say. Leave it alone. Check tire pressure, oil level, address the fuel leak; and ride the piss out of it. Then park it and look for leaks. Brake clean is your 'hide my weeps' in a can.

This beautiful bikes fits your description perfectly. They bike had 2700 miles on it and looked flawless. $5000 in repair later...
Outside looks mean nothing.

Okay Allan! I've got some good news. Unbeknowst to me, my inventory manager already put in the request to have repairs done to the bike. That Fuel leak is going to be taken care of for you, at our cost. It may take some time to get the parts in to do the maintenance, but we will do that for you.
