Inpection plate leak

I have an 07 K-9 that has a leak at the inspection plate. I am not an expert at working on bikes. Is this a quick fix?

Yes, pull it and use some silicone on it. I suggest clear or gray rtv. don't use red.

I am assuming you are refering to the Primary inspection plate. Check to see if the plate is cracked or loose. It may have been over tightened. If it is a 2007 it will have a solid gasket behind the cover.

Any one I ever worked on I put black RTV on there after cleaning it with brake cleaner. I think it's pretty common that they leak.

I ran a bead of clear RTV on mine and it sealed it just fine and it is cracked in the corner. Anyone have an extra one they can part with? PM me.

No, if you lose any fluid it had way too much in it.

Make sure you don't overtorque the bolts, because they strip real easy.

How many miles on the bike? When was the last time the primary oil was changed? The inspection cover is where the primary oil is added!
If you pull the cover and the time for a change is close you can kill two beers with one work up (better than that two birds with one stone shit)

Do a search for torque specs and primary chain adjustment for a complete job!
