I need some other opinions on this: I was looking at the inside of a Uhaul enclosed truck. I noticed that it has like a wood trim going around the inside. There is a gap behind it so one could put a rachett strap through it. Do you think one can transport a Big Dog using this? The wood looks to be inch thick and three inches or so wide. It is bolted to the truck every foot or so. Since I do not have a enclosed trailer or a hitch on my car I was wondering if this could be another way to transport the BD. I know alot of you have trailered your BD here and there. So I figured you would be the one's to ask. Also the wood going along the inside the truck is halfway up. They are not down on the ground like a regular motorcycle trailer. Don't know if it makes a difference. Thanks!

I transported my dog in a Uhaul enclosed trailer. The concerns I had were not the boards, but rather the lack of structure which the boards are attached to. Basically riveted to the side wall rather than say the frame. So my solution was to use 8 quality tie down straps evenly placed. Drove 620 miles with no issues and did not have to tighten straps once. I checked the load multiple times and ensured I drove as smoothly as possible. Still not sure this is the best way, but careful preparation helped avoid any issues.

U haul's shit is built like a brick shit house for total morons to use and abuse. I would be more interested in how your gonna chock it.... I doubt you could pull those rails off the walls without ripping a 12" square whole in the wall.

If I do go this route I'm talking only about 20 miles. If you got to go over 600 without a hitch thats impressive. Not sure how to keep the front tire in place. Maybe make some sort of V=shape thing. Shouldn't move once the bike is tied down. Right?

Main concern should be the wheel chock. You could always make a wheel chock and install it in the floor of the u-haul and remove it when done.

I've transported my dog and a hog in a uhaul. We were stuck and had no other options used the wood on the side and drove 400 miles. Just make sure you strap it down appropriately, also run a strap through the rear tire or to the frame to keep it from moving.

I'll be honest I don't know why everyone says to use wheel chocks. Yea they make it easy to tie it down but honestly I have never use one. Transported a bike from Massachusetts to Dallas, Lubbock to Dallas never a problem just make sure the tire is pulled right up to the front of the trailer. If you strap it down right you bike shouldn't buge

I drove from Las Vegas to Albuquerque (over 550 miles) when I went to pick up my dog with a 6'x12' enclosed u-haul trailer with not problem. The trailer had 4 D-ring on the 4 corner that I used to tied down my bike. The only thing I was afraid were the D-ring size, they were thin maybe 1/8" but they did hold pretty good, did a lot of stop to check the "cargo" and I didn't have any issue.

Sounds like a great idea. Hadn't thought of using uhaul. Great way to have an enclosed transport. Maybe you could put it in "moms attic"

I used a Uhaul 6X12 trailer. I put a cap jack under the frame and ran a strap through the jack to keep the jack under the scoot while in transport. I also strapped down the forks as shown and ran two straps in back to the wooden planks on the wall to keep the scoot from shifting side to side. Those straps aren't shown in the pic. The strap on the seat is the strap going through the cap jack. The scoot rode this way for 800 miles with no issues.
