Have a few questions hopfhopef someone can answer .First I have an 04 chopper .Its hard to ride free way speeds cross winds make it hard to control. Tar strips suck just as bad. Some one in my group thinks it's because of the skinny front tire thoughts

Very nice bike !!

The other new guy just posted a new 04 Chop as well and also didn't start in Intros. :)

They're full of $&%^ about the front tire being too skinny. The problem may very well be with the tires, but not because they're too fat or skinny. My K9 handles great. Not sure how different the Chopper is, but we'll hear from their owners.

I got to thinking about this last night. More than likely, you just need to get use to the bike. My 03 had a DT frame, and when I got my 04, it had an RT frame, and the difference in the ride was night and day. Took me a month to get use to the difference in the ride. It's kind of hard to tell by the picture, but it looks like you have the RT frame like mine, which rides a little softer. A set of shocks might help you, where you can adjust the ride. There are a couple vendors on here that have all the parts you need for these bikes, and you'll learn them as you research on here, but for the shocks get with the Kaptin at Wild Steed Worxs for your shocks.

Another thing I want you to do is check you frame over real good for cracks. Check the back bone in front of the battery, and the rear of the frame at the swing arm supports at the bottom. Also check for looseness in your neck bearings.
These are bar none the finest riding choppers out there today. The engineering that went into them was second to none. We ride these bikes like crotch rockets in these twisty Missouri hills, destroying foot pegs and scraping frames and exhaust all the time. You'll get use to it.
Also noticed you need some new rubber on your foot pegs. Go to the hardware store and get some silicone rubber hose, or order it off the internet. I might have a part number if you can't find any. Cut 3/4'' long rings and slide them on. Silicone rubber will last longer, and hold your feet on the pegs better.

Shannon is one guy that knows the bikes, as he rides them a lot, and rebuilds them from ground up. I have an 03 chopper RT frame, and cross winds are really not a problem. Also check your tire pressure every time you go for a ride, as it can really make the bike handle funny (not in a nice way either).
Welcome from St. Louis, Mo., good looking ride.

Thank guys. I will ride it some more before I go change out the front tire . I am new to riding .I've ridden dirt bikes my whole life but this is my first Street bike. I thought it was me to but I switched with a buddy who has been riding street bikes a long time and he rides it better but still notices it's kinda dartey. Lol.

If your going to ride a Big Dog you might as well go all the way.

I have the jacket, a hat, several t-shirts, bottle opener, but I haven't found any underwear yet.

I have a 03 with an RT frame as well. Yes these bikes ride a little different. With it having right side drive it doesn’t counter rotate. Meaning you will not take your hands off the handle bars and go streight. You are fighting a counterforce. Once you get use to it....it’s nonexistent! I ride 200-300 miles on Da’Black Bitch. I love her!! I’ve had her since 2004. I don’t prop her up in the garage and just polish her. To me she is a rider. Yes I keep her clean and polish during down time. Ride your bike. Try getting away from the group for a weekend and go blast off on different style roads. 2 lane concrete, 2 lane blacktop, 4 lane and even interstate. Go put an honest 400-500 mile weekend on your bike and then come back and tell us if you the bike feels different

You can't widen the front tire without getting a different fender even then you don't have much to work with.

Nothing to do with the width either. I don't know what you mean by darting, unless there is ruts in the road then yes you can easily get caught in a rut and roll into it. Just pay attention.

The tire width in the back is more of the issue the 250 is better than the wider 300 at not tracking with crowns and variations with the surface level you are riding on. But in some cases if the road is not flat the bike flows with the angle of the slab of road you are on. Can't fight it, just nature of the beast...let it roll! Just gotta learn the beast!

Welcome
I also have a 2004 Chopper, highway riding is great bike loves 65 or 70 mph, mine pulls to the left a little but I have a 4 inch open primary. Like they said before me check tire pressure and go put a couple hundred mile on her.

You should check THIS out.
