I'm kinda worried- Need advise

It sucks for all of us that BDM has shut their doors. In my case they currently have my gas tank at the factory and my local dealer has my bike. I'm a bit worried that I'll have a problem getting my tank back. I don't think my dealer is going anywhere and they have the rest of the bike. Does anyone know what I might expect? Any advise on how to handle this is appreciated.

All advise and support is appreciated.

I'd call the dealership tomorrow and see what they say. I highly doubt BDM would keep your tank, but it can't help to remind them they do have it.

I'd start with the dealer and go from there.

I'm in a similar situation... the dealer has my scoot and waiting on the new EHC upgrade for warranty replacement. :(

I would travel to Witchita personally to retrieve my tank...Dont know what you were having done, but both painters were laid off...I been to the factory and it's not like they keep things nice and orderly around there...I seen parts all over the place, plus the few people they had are laid off so nobody will know what's what....

Chris answered my e-mail yesterday about ordering parts on-line. I don't know if this helps but you could try shooting him an e-mail. His contact info is on their website.

Thanks for the replies. I spoke with my father-in-law (retired attorney) last night. He said that I'll eventually get the tank back but all of their assets are currently frozen under the law. The dealer has my bike in Los Angeles so I only have to worry about the tank. I doubt my dealer is going anywhere because they are primarily a Boss Hoss Dealership and have multiple locations. I guess the worst case scenario is that I may be out a gas tank. I'll call the dealer today and speak with them. I may get a trailer and pick up my bike (minus the tank). They've always been top notch and honest. Thanks for the support. I'll report back with any news that may help others in my situation.

I wouldn't just wait for your tank. I would be on the phone and doing what I could. Maybe someone can pick it up and ship it to you

When a business closes things disappear and if they lock the place down it could be weeks. You could be waiting for ever and the longer it goes on the worse your chances are

We don't even know what is going on with them yet. I would be calling them everyday and have your dealer call. They are talking to some people it sounds like.

Second that!

I would call them direct and get things taken care of. I had some warranty paint work done about a year ago and I did not go through a dealer. Everything worked out fine but it took ALOT of correspondence with BDM before everything worked out and my tank was back.

Get the tank sent to Airbrush Ed and then send the rest of your tins down to him for an awesome paint job. A forum member may volunteer to help you with this.

Spoke to Doug at Lifestyles... they say they've only had hearsay and haven't heard anything from BigDog directly. They also said that because of that, they're still waiting on word of what's gonna happen with my warrantied EHC.

Knotso is correct. I'm here in wichita (about 12 minutes away). So if someone needed me to collect their parts from BDM, I could swing by. If they would release them to me ,obviously. As I stated earlier that their entire paint dept. is gone, if anyone needs work done, I can take care of you. I haven't been much of a presence on the forum much lately, and I'm sure alot of new guys don't know me. But I worked at BDM until the layoffs cut me. I was one of the many talented artists that painted these awesome machines. I became responsible for many of the high-end jobs, and designed several of their paint schemes. I have done alot of paint jobs for our friends here on the forum, just look up the threads. So if you guys need help getting your parts back, or painted, I'll be glad to help! BTW, thanks for the plug Knotso!

Actually turned out decent, but not worth the hassle and BS I went thru. I learned local is not always best, but to send those panels to you would have been very costly to ship.

Right side, wicked jester

left side, wizard

The jester really needs brighter colors. Everywhere we go ppl want to look at the airbrushed art and it is like riding the pup, it gets to be a hassle sometimes.

Next time Airbrush Ed does the art.

Many on Big Dog Biker have used Ed and his Mad Skills to repaint their scoot and all are more than satisified and all got far more than they ever dreamed of. Ed was the grand master painter at BDM and he is the best in the business.

Get your tins back and send em to Ed, you will be very happy you did.
