ignition wisdom needed

Hey guys....need help with my o1 boxer...ignition module has seemed to crap out on me....has a thunderheart 5000 series ignition on it.... called TH about a new module and got sticker shock at $220.. so what are my options as far as going to a better programmable setup?? Would ibe shopping for evo ignition or twin cam ign? I have the cup style rotor and cam sensor setup at the moment

You can use about any ign system, Crane, Dyna 2000i, S&S, or Ultima. If it still is the factory OEM it should be a dual fire system, so changing to one of the newer single fire system will require a new coil also. Ultima is most likely the cheapest one, it is a copy of a dyna 2000i. You need an Evo, in the nose cone style.

I like the Dyna 2000i running dual fire. It will make a big difference in the way the bike runs, worth the money.

thanks guys...really liked that the thunderheart had the external module to avoid overheating but kinda sad that heat is what did the module in that i am currently running.

Had the same problem awhile back. Originally had the TH, some one put in a Dyna and that crapped out on me and I went to a Crane only because the Dyna tech people would not give me some basic info to trouble shoot it, had to find their procedure by googling online. The Crane has been running great. All personal preference but I have heard the TH to be a little more troublesome than the others, but again that's hear say. The people hear on this site have been invaluable for solid info, they'll steer you right.

All the Best!

which crane setup are you running joe? I was thinking dyna 2000i just because it was cheap at the moment but have really heard good things about crane and accell as well.

Hi Jeremy

I have a 2001 Prosport with a TP 107 CI engine and I used the crane hi4 ignition. I purchased it about a year ago and it was between $200 to $250. I am currently traveling out of country and don't have the documentation at my finger tips but I am sure you can google and get some info.

Best of luck
