Hey gang,
If you were selling a bike, where would you advertise it at? I know the local papers would be the obvious but is there any online places that you have used with good results? I haven't done any selling for awhile and when I did there were a few places I listed a Harley online but those sites are gone. I want to try and avoid ebay if I can. Thanks

Ebay is a great way to get leads, even if you don't sell it. I have bought and sold cars, bikes, and even an airplane on ebay. You may not necessarily do the deal through ebay, but it gets you leads and then you do the deal direct. If it's a Harley, try a Harley forum. Everyone is afraid their shit will go too cheap on ebay, but the bottom line is it will sell for what the market will bear. I list cheaper shit for a dollar and whatever it goes for, that's it. For a big ticket like a bike or car, think of what your absolute bottom line is, list it for that with no reserve, and let it fly. If you get no bids, you're probably not being realistic with yourself. Reserve auctions usually scare people away.

Everywhere you can.....Craigslist, Bike forums, Ebay..... I've also had success with Ebay but think the tides turning a little there with their higher fees. I just bought a Truck of Auto Trader and sold my truck on Craigslist.

I've sold about 10 cars/trucks on Craigslist and a motorcycle too. Just a tip. Post your images on photobucket and html embed them in craigslist instead of using their shitty picture format. This way you can put as many pics as you want and can make them large to view details. That's the ticket to be a sucessful craigslist seller.

I have sold 2 bikes and a truck on ebay in the last year. Only 1 of the bikes actually went through the entire auction process. On the other bike and the truck, I had interested bidders come take a look at them and sold them on the spot. I then closed the auction stating that they sold privately.

I sold my BDM K9 last year on Cycle Trader. It sold in about 4 weeks. Because of the wider distribution of cycle trader (or at least I thought so), my BDM K9 was bought from a guy 3 states away!
