im glad that the majority prefers their woman over their bike. i didnt create this thread to piss anyone off. just realllllly bored. all i can think about lately is my k9 and how i cant pick it up for at least another month.

Good vote question I think but it all comes down to this: Even if you are in a great marriage but you fight because of the Big Dog/riding/ gone all the time riding it should never come down to "big dog or the wife". The wife should never give you that ultimatum BUT the husband should never give the wife a reason to give the ultimatum. It comes down to compromise! I enjoy riding either with my husband on the back of the Big Dog or riding next him on my own chopper. Each person should do something with the other, even if they don't make it their own "hobby" it just makes it better to try to share the interest.

It doesn't appear that anyone is pissed off...no worries!
Some of us may be making it more somber than you'd like!

Chick, I agree, but I do also think it's healthy for each person to have their own interests, individuality, and space sometimes. As long as each person is supportive.

I don't get the question

The bike is staying; I'm not clear on who or what the question comes from. I am having a hard time thinking of what would make me choose? My wife ain't going anywhere and neither is my bike. She's free to choose to leave if - what she doesn't like the color of my bike? She reads the forum and has her own BigDog anyway......lol

The way I see it, if a woman were to make you choose; then she doesn't love you anyway and therefore; she made the decision for ya - right....:loony:

BBC - chicken shit.....lol

Agreed:up: Although I think the only interest me and the hubby don't really share is sports or shooting guns:lol: Maybe I like to shop online a lot more..

I should post a collage of the girls that I dumped, or dumped me, because of issues directly relating to my obsession with motorcycles. There must be about a dozen relationships, and 2 engagements. I pick the bike every time. When I get too old to ride, I'll get a Russian bride.

i bought a '09 honda shadow for my girlfriend and both her kids so they can ride with me now. made a poll on harleyforums.com to see what other people thought about me buying the girlfriend a bike. majority thought i was an idiot. said i should have bought her a harley. i told them a harley wasnt an option. i want a honda for her to learn on. its the honda or nothing, and i want her and her brats to come with me.

k9rider,
That is so typical of most harley riders...for some reason they have had it beat into their heads and shoved up their ass that "If it aint a Harley it's gotta be crap!" It is the same reason they look at Big Dog riders funny, and can't understand why we would ride what we do, even though it is so obvious that our bikes are far and above superior. There was once a time when having and riding a bike was a statement and expression of individuality...now for most of those folks its a simply a "Herd" menatality.

Congrats to you for going your own way. Do your thing man...and let everybody else do theirs.

K9rider, most of us have other bikes and the smaller bikes of any make are better to learn on and there is a bike for everyone out there. Big Dogs are not the bike for many nor should they be. Who cares what others think? You have to do what is right for your family and I would look forward to riding with all of you no matter what you and they are riding.

But the question was about choosing. Some of the answers that have been posted were with the feelings of the moment/day/things currently going on, but it is entertaining and we appreciate the question and answers.

See Ya:cheers:

My wife honestly thinks it would be the bike over her.
But, I would take the wife over my bike. Don't tell her though, it keeps her in line.

funny thing is i own a harley, used to own 2. ive never looked down on someone riding a metric. i just assume they would rather not spend as much on their toys as i do. a lot of members here have hogs too, but their minds arent near as narrow.

Much cheaper to replace the bike and I get to choose if and when I put money towards it.

My f'ing ex claimed my daughter on her taxes this year even though I pay support, my daughter only stayed 2 nights with her mom this past year and she told me she wouldn't think of claiming her all things considered. Still reaching into my pocket for her coke. Ahhhhhhhhh! Yes, I know there are things that can be done but not worth it for fear that it would involve my kids. She knows I put them 1st and that is why she gets away with this shit.

Rant and highjack done.

:2thumbs: Absolutely true about something smaller to learn on! I bought a Sporty 883 to learn on and wanted to go larger right away but I think it would have been better and even cheaper if I would've started off with a honda or something because of trading in so quickly! Either way I see it, you're an awfully nice guy if you bought your girlfriend a bike. I don't care what kind of bike you own, it's always nice to ride with people.

Think of it like this guys. Ten burley bikers with base ball bats' guns and knifes walked up to you and your lady and say " your wife or your bike ". Which one would you choose?

My girlfriend is already jealous of the Big Dog. I complain about taking her out for a nice dinner, but have no problem dropping $$$ on the bike. I just bought the dog an enclosed trailer, so I can hit up some rides further from home. I agree with "if you have a nice Dog you can get plenty of ass." I pick my Dog!!!!
