Identifying a cam

Stock BDM has standard BDM markings (shitload of numbers) on it don't need to remove it just remove the cam cover.

Regarding decking the heads search for post by John Sachs he's gone into detail a few times on what to do. I think the ideal combo is decking plus a thinner base gasket.

However you gotta make sure you dont boost it too much or you'll have issues with pump gas not being high enough octane. I know I've been stuck in places with only 87...like in Oklahoma.

Heck I have problems with 91! Got shaved cylinders and new pistons fron s&s sale years ago. If I remember correct s&s cuts cylinders from bottom
