I want a WIDE ass

I have an 02' Prosport with a 180 rear tire. I want to upgrade to a wider tire, but it looks as though even if I upgrade the tire to say a 220 it will look the same since our bikes have such short sidewalls. Does this sound right or am I :loony: ? I haven't measured to see if there is room to even consider going larger.

With that said, what steps would I want to take to achieve the look?

New swing arm? If that is the case can I switch to the Husky swingarm that has internal shocks?

New fender?

Etc.

Anyone on here done this before on a similar bike?

Side wall will probably be the same. Its the look from the rear that your worried about. Just make sure you have enough room between the tire and the belt.

I did some mre research and it looks like Lambo may have done a wide tire conversion to his Husky at one point. It looked like he went through the frame designer Daytec.

I am not sure exactly which frame I have though.

I want to go bigger in general. 250 or so. But from what I can tell, just adding a bigger tire will not give it a bigger look.

The Metzler site does not even show an upgrade availiable for the 02' Prosport as far as tire size is concerned.

Just starting to put priority on fund assignment. Not even sure what kind of cost are associated with a conversion.

the biggest changes will be the swing arm, fender, wheel, and maybe seat. a typical wide tire conversion kit will run about 2 grand, typical billet wheel at the size needed would be about a grand and fender lets just say 250. dont forget paint and powder coating and what ever might have to done to the seat. all thats not including doing the labor if you can't do it yourself.

sounds about right to me - need to get it right too with the alignment issues etc - I don't follow why you say a wider tyre will not give it a wider look though - also, there must be a limit on how wide a tyre you can put on any given wheel

Yup, been there - done that.

I had a Daytec frame so the swing arm kit was easy. Did a 250 kit. Mine was about 4K at the end of the day because I decided to re-paint all the tins. You'll also have to make a new seat pan and get a new seat.

You'll have to buy a new primary case or a spacer for the one you have to offset the primary and trans to get the belt offset needed.
