Okay so my bike's not a big dog it's just an 83 Honda Shadow VT500C custom that I bought I'm going to throw a little money into and sell My problem is is the wiring I don't have the ignition on it right now as a time but I can hook the battery up to it and when I hit the start button my blinker lights come on both of them at the same time what could this be? I did put a new start relay on it and it didn't have the same wire code or colors that the one that I took off did but I believe I've got that hooked up right and there's no meltdown or anything like that so but yeah I'm not getting any starter no starter motor kicks in just the front blinkers.
I need some knowledge.

With the key on check for voltage at the start switch. If you don't have it look for a blown fuse. If you do have the voltage push the start button and look for voltage at your start relay. No voltage look for bad switch or a broken wire. Voltage but no activation of the starter double check the connections you may have the solenoid wires switched.

Try this website. I needed torque specs on a twin. They have a book for that year maybe.
Ok so I have voltage at the switch and I have voltage at the relay but I am not getting voltage up to the box that all the connectors lead to. It's a box right under the headlight by the horn never seen anything like it on another motorcycle. Also when I check for my main hot coming in to that box I don't have it there either but yet I get it other places that depend on voltage coming from that box. I know it's something simple it's just something overlooking that's why I'm reaching out but I am scratching my head on this one
If somebody could tell me how to just hotwire the motorcycle with a toggle switch explain that process to me as far as like the clutch switch the ignition switch how would I how would I wire that and help me with the color coding. I hate to say I'm having a hard time with this but I am I would appreciate any help.
